My ds will just be turing 3 during our next trip, do I need an autograph book? RIght now it seemd like just one other thing for me to worry about, now he just shreads the shopping list I take to the food store, I can just imagine what he would do with a whole book and a sharpie marker!lol Any thoughts? I guess I can just wait and see if he shows interest and get one at wdw, they do sell that, right?

When my son went at 2, 2 1/2 and 4yo his absolute favorite thing to do was get the character's autographs. IMO 3 is the perfect age for an autograph book.

And yes - they do sell them there.

We just got back and my DD is 4.5. I didnt think she would be interested because we go yearly and she was never interested before. But we went to Chef Mickeys on the first night and she asked what the characters were writing on....I explained the autograph thing to her and she was hooked. We bought a book that night and she had a blast getting them. But she's 4.5 When she had just turned three, she wasnt interested at all.

Wow he would be a perfect match for my DD who will also be turning 3 during our trip AND love sto shred shopping lists.:rotfl:

My DS is also 3, and I don't think he would care about an autograph book that HE couldn't draw in. I am thinking about buying a large white photo mat and having the characters sign it, then frame a photo of him from the park.

We go to DL at least 1-3 times per month and my 3.5 yr old has never shown the least bit of interest in an autograph book. She just wants to hug and get photos taken. My husband agrees that it's not anything she would want now. I figure this will change with more awareness. I'm not planning on one for our January WDW trip, but possibly one the year after.

Keep in mind that if you don't get to the parks often, then it might be something you would still want to do.

I love the idea of autographing a matte for the child's photo. That, we could even get into! :thumbsup2

For my oldest DD she was 3.5 for her first trip and loved to get the autographs! We got the autographs only on one side of the page, and then put a picture of her with the character on the opposite page. She loved taking it to daycare to show everybody. She did want to write in it herself, but accepted that it was just for the characters.

I did not read prior post....but my DD turned 3 during our August visit this year. I really think we could have done without the autographs and she has shown no interest in the autograph book since we have returned. Now with that said the one nice thing was it did make her alittle less shy when going up to the characters.

Thanks for the advice all, I guess I will just play in by ear and see how ds seems about it, I was going to make my own "special" book but I think that it will be not needed, perhaps one for him to draw and one for autographs.

I took by 2 boys, ages 3 and 6, in April and October. In april, we did not use an autograph book, neither of the boys even noticed other kids getting signature or were interested. This was their first trip and we focused on playing with the characters, getting hugs, neither was shy.

For our Oct trip, I did have 1 autograph book. My 6yo because very intersted, but my 3yo could care less. He watched as the characters signed, but he just wanted hugs, to play, and give high-5 to them.

We always have gotten the autograph/photo books. Our now 6 year old loves seeing the photos of him when he was 2/3 with the characters.

My parents will be traveling with us so I guess I can put my mom in charge of this. It just get so crazy with photo, video, photopass cards, I don't need to have one more thing to worry about. I want to try to make this trip as laid back, non comando, as possible so that DS will be able to do and see what interests him, I am going off topic! sorry.

At 2-4yrs old, my ds was not interested at all in autographs and it would have been just one more thing for us to carry around and remember to do. We felt we waited in enough lines just to see the characters, that we didn't want to bother with waiting for them to sign a book (and slow things down for the people waiting behind us too). It was enough for us just to get the picture. :) Now, our last trip ds was about to turn 5, so we did buy him an autograph book because he actually took an interest in it. Before that trip, I never wanted autographs for myself, so I didn't see the point of it, but that is just me. :goodvibes
