Do I need a minivan or can I get by with an SUV?

We need a vehicle large enough to transport Dh and I, our 3 children, and our luggage. We drive a full size car here at home and can fit all three car seats in the back seat, but we need a larger vehicle at DW to fit all our luggage and our double stroller! Dh would like a minivan and I have a reservation I made a few months ago, but it is for more than I would like to pay for a rental. I also have a reservation for an SUV and that reservation is a little lower in price. Could we get away with fitting all three car seats in an SUV? I know generally they only have the front seat and back bench. But if we can fit all three across one seat at home, would they possibly fit in an SUV?

We got a pretty good minivan rate at National using codes and coupons...is that an option?

The rate we got with National for a minivan was around $380 for 10 days - not terrible, but our Alamo SUV reservation is a full $100 cheaper! The biggest problem with our rates is we're there during New Years, so nothing is cheap!

I'd pay the extra and go with the minivan. I drive an SUV around home with two kids, and I'll tell you that it was alot nicer having the minivan on the trip. I don't think all of our luggage plus our strollers would have fit in an Explorer or Trailblazer.
