i was planning on taking our MacClaren quest- a lightweight single stroller for our almost 2yo. I am now starting to wonder if we should take a double stroller- its the Sit n Stand type. We never use it at home (NYC) and my 4.5yo is used to public transportation and walking a lot- BUT i wonder if it might be wise to bring it on this trip. She will be almost 5 when we go but the park days will be looong
My only other concern is how it is transported to WDW on ME- does it go under the bus? and How about riding the bus to the parks- do we carry it on board with us like we do in NYC?

thanks

our almost six year old this past summer. We had weaned her from her umbrella stroller over time. She walks at the zoo and we take family walks after dinner some nights. I thought through how tired I was after some of our trips. I had never measured how far we walked but I read through this thread before we left.

My daughter has woken up at night complaining of leg pains, which is something I had as a kid, even before we stopped using the stroller for some longer activities. That certainly played a part in our decision. It just didn't seem worth the risk of having her miserable on the trip.

The one down side is that we were all tireder than her at the end of the day.

I will be taking my 2 kids 4.5 and 2.5 to Disney in 3 weeks. Hooray!!!!

We have traveled to Disney MANY times before and I always take a double stroller. There is a TON of walking to do and sometimes it is nice for the kids to grab a snack/drink and sit while I push to the next ride...besides having 2 places to sit prevents an argument about wanting to sit somewhere.

On the busses, you fold the stroller and take it on with you. On some boats and the not too crowded monorails, you can push it right on without folding. Magical Express requires you to fold and store under the bus on the way to your resort.

Happy travels!

I think it totally depends on the specific child...When my 10 year old son was 4.5 he was a trooper and we never considered a stroller all through 8 LOOONG park days. On the other hand, I have another son who is 4.5 right now and we will definitely need a sit and stand for him and 2.5 year old son on our trip next month. He would never make it without the chance to ride once in a while. Not that there are any physical differences/issues, but he just melts down easier. Better safe than sorry and have an upset child that you end up carrying!

imho, stroller yes, double no. We took a double for the 2yo and 5yo. First of all we ended up separated a lot since 5yo could do more than 2yo... Dad ended up carrying him a lot, long days for DAD. Then I had to drag that double around all over myself, hard to get in some places! I decided after that trip two umbrellas would be so much better. Easier to transport, we don't need all that junk we thought we would at the parks, so don't need the room in that double, and it'll just be easier all the way around.

After all this being said, DH insists he doesn't need a stroller for now 6yo... hey, that'll be his problem! When it's two/three days into the 8 day trip and DH's back is killing him from having a 6yo on his shoulders I'll just smile.......popcorn::

I'd bring it - In our 05 trip we didn't bring one and ended up renting a double every day for our kids - I agree it does depend on the kid but if you want to stay sane and not listen to whining.... Of course you could always do the single and then rent the double there if you need it.

Research renting the strollers there so you learn the tips/tricks to save some money.
