Do I need a car at SSR?

I'm trying not to rent a car while at SSR in March/April. I really only need the car to go grocery shopping my first day (taking ME to/from resort). Can someone tell me how much a cab would cost for the trip and wait while I shop?

BTW, I checked out the online stores and was not impressed with the selection.

We managed fine without a car with our family of six, plus my parents, in February. Of course, our kids think the WDW buses and boats count as rides, so they were happy. And my husband, who has a long commute every day, was happy not to have to drive for a week.

Before you give up on the online grocery places, you might try giving them a call to request things you don't see on the website. We had a great experience with GardenGrocer. Brian was right there when we checked in, had everything we asked for, helped me unload, and offered a free delivery if we needed anything else. I was willing to pay a little more for the groceries for the convenience of not having to race through an unfamiliar grocery store, knowing that the meter was ticking away on a cab.

We drove down to FL and only used the car to go to Super Walmart for groceries. Other than that it was parked outside our room and we didn't get in it again until it was time to leave.

No problems.
