Do I have this correct about BLT rooms/views?

I will be booking a 1 bedroom at BLT in a few days. I just want to make sure I have my facts straight before I make requests. I'm going to try for the standard view but if its booked I'll go for the Lake view.

My husband doesn't go in elevators. I'm going to request the 5th floor so if there is an issue with the stairs (I've heard of doors being locked) he can always just go up the escalators in the CR to the 4th floor & cross over the sky bridge to the 5th floor at BLT. Am I correct?

Are there any standard view 1 bedrooms on the 5th floor?

If I do get the standard view 1 bedroom, and request the 5th floor, what will that view be?

If I can only get the 1 bedroom Lake view, and request the 5th floor, should I be requesting something additional to ensure a good view? I just don't want to be looking into other people's rooms.

At this point with the change of a few rooms to standard from theme park view I believe there may be 1 or 2 1 bedrooms on the 5th floor that are standard (they would be previous theme park view rooms). You cannot specifically be guaranteed one of these rooms if you get a standard view reservation. There are many more lake view rooms on the floor so if you really want 5th floor than I would go for a lake view rather than hoping that the 1 or possibly 2 rooms you need happen to be open on your check in day and no one who checked in earlier than you requested them either(and the 5th floor standards will be highly requested rooms as they were theme park views in the past and about the best standard view room you could get).

If you really want the 5th floor I would make that my request and not worry about your view- it depends on how important that is to you- the more requests you make the less likely you are to get them.

Thank you! So I should go for the Lake view, request 5th floor & hope for the best lol. I don't want to make too many requests because like you said it lowers my chances of getting what I want. The most important thing is being on the 5th floor.

I think you are boxing yourself into a very small area if you are hoping to get a standard view one-bedroom on the fifth floor. There are only three such villas on the fifth floor, and they are all on the north wing. Also, I think one of them is a HA villa. You actually have better odds of getting a Standard View one-bedroom on the first floor: There are 8 ground floor villas located on the north and south wings.

The last time we stayed at BLT, I never tried to enter a staircase from the first floor. However, I was able to use the staircase to access all the floors from the 10th floor down to the fifth floor.

I agree with other PP about requests. I've stayed in a standard 1 bedroom 3 times now and have always requested a higher floor and have never gotten any requests fulfilled. Once was an inside C room, 2nd floor over the community hall. The other 2 times have been ground floor -- once facing the marina, the other time facing the inside C next to the community center. We have a 1 bedroom standard reserved for May, and I've not even made any requests yet, but again I will ask for a higher floor outside C. I've had an inside C 3 times now (once was a LV) and watching others on their balconey in the morning in their PJ (or worse) is not very appealing. My last visit I requested a higher floor 4th/5th on the tennis court side of the building outside C. I got the complete opposite. We were ground floor facing the marina, but we did get the outside C. Good luck!

We want BLT, it's the only DVC we haven't tried yet. Personally, we did not like OKW and don't see us staying there again.
