Do I Have any Hope at all? re late II trade?

Hope you can help. I'm new to the boards but have been a DVC member since 2000. We have an Oct use year at WL. During 2002 I was very sick and we couldn't use our points since I couldn't travel during treatment. We never even managed to bank our points. MS suggested doing a late deposit into II.
We have three girls ages 3,7 and 9 that we will be traveling with. From reading these boards it looks like it is very difficult to trade into II even with a 2 year notice. Do I have any shot with a 59 day advance booking. Any suggestions on where to try or any other options out there for me?
I so wish we could just have those Disney points back. I wish I had known then that I could have rented the points out instead. MS doesn't tell you that and I didn't know about these boards then!

yes how soon are you going.

there are several Marriotts in HH as well as Disney's HH in Jan and Feb.

In March the Marriotts in Williamsburg.

how much are willing to spend on planes?

there is a France one in March, several in England (Great Britian)

where are you from - so I can look for something you can drive too?

We are from around Pittsburgh PA. I believe we have until August to use it. So spring or summer would be fine. The HH ones sound great but what would we do with the kids if its still too cold to swim. How can you do Disney HH thru II? Is there any way to check availability or do I need MS to do that? We could drive or fly, that doesn't matter. We never considered taking the kids to Europe - don't know if we could handle it!

I would go with Marriott's Grande Ocean before Disney's HH - it is on the ocean!!!

If you want places to go to then Williamsburg, VA - it also has a Marriott - however a car is a must in Williamsburg. there are several things to do here - Busch Gardens - must be able to walk hills, Jamestown, Col Williamsburg, it is not to far from Yorktown and some of the other battlefield of the Revolution and Civil Wars.

if you want to fly there were several in California Late May, early june.

the problem with flying is the last minute deals (that is what the 60 days are) - don't always go with good deals on flying.

there were a couple it Pa. there were also a couple in NJ and Ny - but these were not DVC approved.

If you have an October use year, why would it be a late deposit. Are you trying to use holding account points?

This was done Sept of 2003 I think. So it was in the last 60 days of our use year so it was a late deposit. We had 2 years to use it which gives us thru Summer 2005. We didn't realize how hard it use to get in thru II and already had our 2004 trips planned so we haven't tried to use this trade until now. Any suggestions?

The problem is you must truly be able to take something last minute and or off season to make this work. Suggestions would include Branson, Williamsburg, HH before mid March, Caribbean late April and May, CA desert this summer, FL in May to early June or Sept if it'll work that late with the deposit. You may need to call every day. If you do so, call at opening. Will they let you do any type of search, my guess is no.

When I search for mid March, I get a fair amount of inventory in the type of places I've listed above. Add NC to that list and I saw a couple of HH units. My guess is you're going to come back and say you can't go during the off times and/or you don't want to go to those places at those times. If so, you likely will find nothing that will work. If you have limitations, you might just pick a week and keep trying to get something that will work for that week by keep calling until they find you something. Even ask if you can exchange back in to DVC though I don't think they'll let you. Good luck and let us know what happens.
