So, my 3yo got my phone and purchased a $100. bag of coins from some stupid game...I read itunes contract and it looks like all sales are final :( I'm just wondering if anyone out there has had any luck trying to get $ back? (my acct. is password protected, she just got ahold of the phone right after i had downloaded some apps, so the password was unfortunately still active. boo) thanks!

Good luck! I found it very difficult to contact iTunes for anything related to customer service. Their online support took more than 3 days to get back to me regarding a problem that I had. And the phone support was of absolutely no help whatsoever. You might be better off disputing it with your credit card company.

For the future, you can disassociate any credit card or debit card from the account. Just buy the gift cards and put a few dollars on the account. That way, no one can use your iTunes account to make purchases beyond the dollar amount you have loaded on it.

IMO iTunes reps are fantastic when you explain your particular situation.
My DD had a hard drive disaster and they helped her asap.

that's a great idea-going to do that now. i can't imagine how angry DH would be if this happened AGAIN! :headache:

thanks!

I wanted to share this thread with you...http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2583149

My son racked up and spent $175 in in-game purchases. ITunes did refund our money and showed me how to set up parental controls.

Good luck!

I had a similar situation ds downloaded a few upgrades on a game but he didn't realize they kept charging him for game. Totaled about $50. They reimbursed me and talked me through setting up different controls. They will only do it once they said.

you guys are all awesome! we did contact itunes and they are going to refund the money! and, thanks to all of your advice, the cc is removed from the acct and restrictions have been set. thanks again!!

Anyone want to share how to set up the parental controls? My fear is that my 7 yo will accidentally download something that he is not supposed to...

You just have to log out of your account and not tell your 7 year old the password :) Make sure your credit card is NOT linked to your Itunes account.

Here is the information Itunes sent me on how to stop "In-App Purchases", like my daughter buying $80 worth of virtual dog food on Touch Pets :headache:

Now, if you would like to prevent in-app purchases from being made in the future, you can block them on your iOS device. Follow these steps:

1) Tap Settings on your device's home screen.

2) Tap General.

3) Tap Restrictions.

4) If necessary, tap Enable Restrictions and enter a passcode. This passcode will prevent restrictions from being disabled without your permission.

5) Scroll down to the Allowed Content section. Switch the In-App Purchases option to OFF. Enter your Restrictions passcode if prompted

Good luck with Itunes helping you out!!

My itunes account was hacked into twice and charges over $100 both times for music that I dont listen to and games that I dont order and they refused to budge.. I ended up having to go thru my bank to get the charges reversed off my bank account since my itunes account was linked to my bank account.. after the
2nd time it happened I took my bank info off my itunes account and now buy itunes giftcards when I want to buy stuff.. that way if someone hacks into my itunes account they can only get what I have left on the giftcard and I buy them in $10 increments..

My account was also hacked into. I had just put on $100 gift card and next thing I know it is down to zero with religious hungarian music. I emailed and emailed and never got a response so I finally found a number and called and she did give me back my money. I make sure I don't keep a credit card on that file, I change the password a lot and I make sure I log off each time. the sad part is my son got a lot of gift cards for itunes and I dont want to use them. We have about $300 worth. UGH!
