If you did a proper job of reading that thread you would have seen the OP said she would not take her dd on it.

I am in conflict with myself, how bad a parent I am if I take my kid on a ride I absolutely love but she does not enjoy.

For example my little girl she is two years and I was on Disneyland last week and made her ride haunted mansion because for me a trip to Disney is not complete if I don't ride it, I tried by passing the elevator but I was told by a CM it was not possible, sure enough the lights go out and people start screaming like crazy, and my baby was scared and started to cry, I managed to calm her down but she definitely did not enjoy the rest of the ride.

I am going to Magic kingdom next week and not sure what to do, should I ride it again or just forget about it and move on??

Maybe, but she did make her ride at DL, and was asking if anyone thought she was a bad parent for wanting to take her on at MK.

Wow people are so rude. If she wants to spend $200 on tickets to get more FP than who cares. She asked if you could do it, not if it was smart or what people thought of that idea. And honestly that is all in the eye of the beholder. What is the difference between spending money on universal express(yes you get all rides not 3), but it is more money. Everyone has disposable income some more than others so they get to "throw away" more money than others. Some think BBB or Tommorowland Terrace is throwing away money while others think it is necessary. She isn't hurting anyone by doing it. It is their money to spend how they see fit and if they do it, doesn't mean they are raising a spoiled brat or are stupid.

I think OP, you absolutely could do that. You would have to leave the park and enter with the second set. I would look into the VIP tour. Especially with the big changes to FP it would be money well spent if your budget can manage it. I don't think it means you are not teaching your child properly. Let the haters hate and enjoy your trip!

And she didn't know at that time her child would be scared for the whole ride. I don't see a problem with that, now she knows and she has decided NOT to take her on the ride at WDW.

The last report I saw indicated that people were able to use FPs on a ticket not used for park entry. I think I've read AP holders saying mom brought the kids while Dad was at work, and brought Dad's magic band to use for FP. Things are changing every day though, so they would run the risk of a policy change mid-stream. I guess worst case scenario would be that they then had to leave and re-enter (would not work with an AP though). I guess it's even possible they could then keep the ticket to use on another trip?

I'm not sure why the big jump to tell them to book a VIP tour. Isn't that something like $1800? $300 is a lot less than $1800. If that's what it's going to take to make a good trip great, then go for it.

That said, I would not do it myself. I'm just too cheap.

It is not impossible to teach a two year old how to wait their turn and how to have patience. Not sure why so many people think two year olds are incapable of this.

I first took my kids to WDW when they were 2 years old and 9 months old, and every year, at least once or twice a year, since. They are now 14 and 12 and we never had issues with them waiting in lines. It was always as simple as "if you want to ride this attraction, see this show, watch this parade, buy this toy, eat at this location then you must wait your turn", "otherwise we can and will do something else". My oldest son was diagnosed with ADD at age 6 and he was still more than capable of waiting in line like everyone else.

And it's definitely not just my kids. We have seen countless other toddlers waiting in lines without issue. Just last Thanksgiving we traveled with extended family which included a 7month old, a two year old, and a three year old. All three of them waited in line with the rest of us just fine.

Save your money and teach your child a life lesson.

Have you read many threads here? There are many of us who don't want to wait in excessive lines and would love extra fastpasses. We must be such horrible people.

Maybe the OP just wants to enjoy her vacation all the while wanting her 2 year old too also and she is just trying to find a way to make that possible.

If moneys no problem I say buy the extra ticket OR hire a Disney sitter/nanny/helper (what ever they are called) go through the park with you so you can have the extra FP+ options, ride the rides you want to and also have help for the day.

Thank you all for all the wonderful advice I actually have some VIP tours I could use but have done them before and yes while the line skipping is amazing, the part of spending the whole day with a cast member is something I am not crazy about, sometimes I like to have some alone quality time with my family. That being said I checked availability and the VIP tours are all gone, would need to check with the club 33 concierge.

I thank all the people that write on my thread with good advice and without passing judgement, to all others I am sad that you would come to a Disney thread and write snippy comments, but I guess some people use this boards to blow some steam off and let out their frustrations, I am sure you have perfect families and are the perfect parents, myself I like to go through life, letting people live their lives and not think I have any right to judge or try to understand why some people do this or that, I find it a much happier existence, you should try it sometime.

My 3yr old is very capable of waiting and he sits very well at a table to eat just like my other 2(and did last year in WDW when he was 2). We ALWAYS buy FOTL passes for the extra costs when at a theme park. Not because my kids can't wait in line...we don't want to wait in line. If I can pay to avoid it, I will. Just like I valet my car at restaurants and pay for a lot of other extras perks in life that give us more enjoyment. For us that cost is just factored into our vacation, just like nice restaurant options and extra experiences. Does it make my kids spoiled brats, nope. They don't demand it or even ask for it. When at WDW they didn't even want souvenirs. They don't ask for anything in a store when shopping and they never get anything except for at birthdays or holidays. Every family is different and we view a vacation as a place to be very extravagant and don't go "budget friendly". WDW or any other vacation shouldn't have to require spending less so that the kids learn to be well behaved people....they should do that no matter what experiences they are able to have. Saying people shouldn't spend money to have better vacation opportunities is the same as saying you shouldn't stay deluxe and only at value or your kids will be snobs.

If someone is teaching life lessons daily, then I see nothing wrong with trying to head the problem off instead of spending time at Disney teaching a lesson.

I think it is more like sour grapes than uptight. They can't have it so harass someone else and try to make them feel like they are doing something wrong as a parent so they don't do it. I have seen some polite posters saying they would never spend the money, but here is how to do it. That is a respectful comment. People don't choose to spend their money the same way, but doesn't mean you are wrong in spending money differently. Honestly some of the bashing the OP is taking is just ridiculous

If time is money then buying a separate set of tickets is a good idea. If you can save yourself 4 hours a day, that would be $100 (valuing my time at $25 per hour, could be higher since I'd be on vacation. Plus OP seems rich so her family's time might be worth more.), if staying 9 days that would be $900 which easily covers the cost of the tickets.

Of course, I'm too cheap to actually do that, but it's an option.
