Do I drop my late afternoon 7DMT FP?

Ha! Yet you still had the no FP during EMH answer! I definitely understand the avoiding EMH strategy, but if you ever get the chance to do a 7am - it's awesome! On this trip, Friday is our only fully free day of the weekend - on Saturday and Sunday the girls have obligations with the dance studio, so they decided they wanted to do MK on the full day - and I agree!
I absolutely loved the early EMH at MK in March this year. We were able to get all of fantasyland done and waited by liberty square for that area to open. We were very close to the front in BTMR so we had a lot done in the first two hours. That made the rest of our day so easy going.

Ugh...I've only done rope drop for it once, on a 7am EMH. We did okay but it wasn't the most pleasant way to start the day!

I'm actually the "older woman" in the group, lol! I'm not as worried about her and the kids keeping up at the park as much as I am about them getting out of their room in the morning! But either way, it's definitely possible that we'll end up at the back of the line, so you're right, best to keep the FP...
I see. When you referred to the mother, I thought you meant your own mother. Lol!

I think my plan of action would be to keep looking to modify the FP, but if I couldn't get it switched to earlier we'd aim to RD it. Then, if we made it, we'd modify the FP to something else earlier in the day.

Yes, it's often repeated on here that there is no slow time at WDW anymore. But it's a Friday in January. It's not exactly prime visiting time. I would think that as long as you're at the park by rope drop (and yes, even towards the back of the rope drop line) you will be fine. It's EMH so you're only fighting on site guests with no BOG breakfast eaters in front of you and there are no FP returners to slow the line.

Looking at it that way, that's encouraging! My daughter's friends haven't been to MK, so I'm thinking I can motivate them to get there early. I almost switched it out yesterday but I'm glad I posted the question since that makes sense and holding on to it definitely seems to be the consensus!

Sadly, no. It's a trip with my daughter's dance studio, so the kids are all different ages, so we're making most of our plans with her close friend on the trip. The mom is much younger than me, though, but I'm pretty spry lol! But the friend and her little sister have never been to MK and it's our only "free day", so I really want to maximize our time!

I love am EMH too - the one I was mentioning before was a 7am that I did with my sister. It was the day after Easter, so the day was crowded overall, but we got so much done in the first couple of hours. We did pretty much everything but Tomorrowland, plus shopping, before the noon parade (2 parades for the holiday). We watched the parade from near the entrance, then left to do the pool for the afternoon - did Tomorrowland in the evening. For such a busy time of year it made things very relaxed and fun!

I bet! I've really never been when MK is super busy, but this year there was a dance competition the first weekend in March so that made the crowds more noticeable. I've read that competitions don't normally affect park crowds, but that wasn't the case with this particular competition. You could definitely tell they were dance groups, so it was nice to get almost all of the park done before noon when those groups started showing up. We even had time to lay down in the "grassy" areas by the castle. We've never really had a chance to slow down like that and just enjoy being there so it was really nice.

So, I hadn't tried to move my late afternoon 7DMT FP for a couple of days, so I gave it a shot today and VICTORY!

First I was able to back it up in the afternoon to the back end of our FPs around the noon hour, and I was happy enough with that. Then I decided to keep tweaking, and I was able to shuffle stuff around so I could get it on the front end so we won't need to backtrack! Now we won't have to deal with the crush of rope dropping it and again, won't need to back track unless we want to! Yay!

I just wanted to come back and thank y'all for talking out of ditching it - thanks! :thanks:
