Hello: I have a studio booked at the BCV for those dates and I trying to decide whether to cancel, sell the reservation or wait it out. I guess I have until Sept. 24 to cancel and not have the point go int holding. I was thinking we'd drive to Disney from Ontario. Your thoughts?

Tough call since US closed border to driving through until at least sept 21. We have a timeshare booked in November at cape Canaveral and if I can figure out how to sell it off I would do it now. I was really hopeful that by this Fall things would be looking up but Delta and some Governor’s mismanagement (in my opinion) have really thrown a wrench into recovery.

We have a similar reservation at BCV from Sept 18 to Oct 3.

We had flights booked from Detroit to Orlando and planned to drive across the border to the airport. With the border still closed and now extended beyond our departure date the only option we have is to book flights from Toronto.

We are DVC and had a large reservation booked for 13 people from Oct 23-30. There was no immediate need to cancel last week but we did. We were then able to re-book for early April. When I called to cancel, M.S. said I could, and I should, wait another month to cancel. But I know the VGF and BC would certainly have been unavailable inside of 7 months had I waited. So by cancelling early, I was still able to book the BC and VGF.

So if you are planning on re-booking, the sooner you cancel, the more availability you will have.

Hello: The points I'm using for this reservation are from 2020 use year and expire Feb. 28th. were your points bankable?

We had both banked and borrowed. They put the borrowed points back as they are "making exceptions for Canadians and British". But we had banked points that needed to be used so we booked April. It looks like you will have to use those banked points by Feb 28th. You still have time to use them or rent them. Good luck

I was supposed to be at Disney this week but canceled 3 weeks ago. I wasn't sure what would happen to my points but we were not comfortable going and were prepared to rent it out at a discount or lose the points. Called MS and like previous poster said, they are making exceptions for international owners. They put the borrowed points back and extended the expiration date of the banked points to May 2022 (from January 2022).

We would have cancelled too but we are using our banked 2020 points. It's use them or lose them time. :(
I rented my November reservation out with David’s. I know there were problems with him at the beginning of the pandemic, but the reservation rented in a couple of weeks and I’m confident that the transaction will go off without a hitch. I’m happy. Maybe try that. It’s certainly a coveted booking.

Are your extended banked points already available to use, or do you have to wait until Feb 2022 to see them/use them?

You should consider selling them on the DVC forums here or try Davids. I don't think you should ever feel like you HAVE to go just to use points.

So did you wind up cancelling or decided to go?

I literally just cancelled our reservations for the first week of November at SSR this morning, so I know the sad feeling.

Hoping our Christmas trip can still happen.
