Do guests get DVC discounts

I have friends that are staying on our points at Wilderness Lodge. Will they be eligible for the DVC member discounts while they are staying there? Member perks?

Guests should be eligible for things like dining and recreation discounts. Their room keys will read "DVC Member", and most places will acknowledge that and grant the discounts.

But there are some discounts that have more stringent policies, stating that the blue DVC Member ID must be presented to receive the discount. They will not be eligible for the DVC discount on Annual Passes. I believe the free valet parking perk also states that the blue member card must be presented to receive the benefit (although I doubt that's always the case.)

We have found some of the restaurants do not give the discount for guests either. We were asked for our blue member card several times in addition to our key last December.

They would be entitled to the discounts if you were staying with them on points. Except for the AP pass discount. Only the member and family members residing at the same address, with proof of address.

When we stayed the last 2 times (July and January), we were asked for a blue membership card to go along with our room key every time we got a discount.

I,m sure that they probably will get all the discounts that members do, but I don't neccessarily thing that they should. I have never been asked to see my membership card by anyone when getting a discount or service like valet parking, just my room card occasionally. They shouldn't put DVC Member on your room card if you are renting points. You should have to present your membership card at check-in to have DVC Member added to your room key.
Just my 2 cents.

In the past the perks were always published as being offered to DVC members "and their guests" staying on points. Now, everything on the website indicates that the blue membership ID should be presented in order to receive the member perks. That would seem to eliminate guests from being eligible.

In a sense it's a double edged sword. If I want to gift a trip to a friend or relative, they will not get the discounts normally associated with that membership. If I leave my member ID card in the room, I can't get the discount.

Personally, I don't have a whole lot of remorse over renters and guests getting the perks. If Disney doesn't want to put forth the energy to police it better (i.e. educating CMs to ask for the blue ID card), then it's their problem.
