Do GTY room assignments ever change?

I booked a GTY 8B rate for a cruise for June 2026. Based on everything I've read, I didn't expect to get a room assignment until much closer to the sail date. However, when I logged in at the beginning of this month to make a payment, I saw the booking had changed from "GTY" to a specific stateroom. I don't know how long ago it changed, as I didn't get an email about it. Is it likely that I can count on this assignment to stick even this far out or is it possible they may change it based on their own needs closer to sailing? I'm a planner, so it's nice knowing, but of course, understood I was giving up some planning control booking GTY. We've never cruised before, so I'm not familiar with how all this stuff works.

It might change. Probably not but it is possible. The specific stateroom category GTY tends to be assigned earlier than the broader *GT bookings which are often not assigned until within 2 weeks of sailing.
