Do gift cards generally go on sale?

I was able to get the itunes gift cards from Walmart today ($50 cards for $35). Generally, I am not a big gift card shopper but I will be getting quite a few this year. Do stores generally have specials on these? I am looking at name brand places like Old Navy, Wet Seal, World Market, Barnes and Noble, and Rave Movie Theater. Thanks!

You may find any of these on sale on occasion, but usually not.

I'm not sure where you live, but Kroger gives an extra .10 per gallon of gas off for each $50 gift card purchased. I charge it on my 5% cash back credit card as a grocery purchase to get another $2.50 back.

You can also look for beer rebate forms giving you $10 back by mail when any $50 gift card is purchased.

Last year Old Navy had gift cards on sale (sometime in December) for 20% off.

I was trying to remember when the Old Navy 20% off sale was last year. I got a $200 GC last year for $160 and then used it to buy stuff when it was on sale - it was like getting and extra bonus on the bonus. I definitely want to do it again this year!

Sometimes places will give you a "bonus" when you buy a gift card. For example, they will give you a $5 gift card when you buy $25. a

You rarely see gift cards go on sale. I cant remember if it was Modells or Sports Authority that had a special on gift cards on Black Friday a few years ago.

Just so you know, if you have a Costco or Sam's Club, iTunes cards are always on sale there. The $25 ones are about $23, the $50 are around $45 and the $100 pack (several smaller value cards equalling $100) for $70.

I didn't know this. I was at Sam's yesterday and could have picked up two of the $100 packs and saved myself hustling to Walmart at 7:30 this morning since the price was the same. I will have to remember that for next year. Thanks!

Costco's gift cards are always a deal. I know I've bought the $100 worth of spa services with Spa Finder for $80. They have restaurant ones that are similar. Usually the weekend after Thanksgiving they put their 4 pack of iTunes on sale for $52 so you get $8 off.

Last year a couple stores (I think Target and Best buy) had itunes gift cards on sale BF. I can't remember what the discount was. It was not as big of a discount as the wal-mart offer this weekend but it was on the pack of smaller amt cards.



I was wondering though, since kohls doesn't have restrictions on their coupons (atleast thats what the commercials say) can you use their coupons to purchase giftcards ?

I haven't seen any barnes and noble offers yet but Borders is having a current online deal of buy $50 in gc (you can buy 2 $25 cards) and get a free $10 gc.

No because giftcards are like cash. And then what would stop one from buying a giftcard with a coupon and then using a coupon for the purchase they are using the card. Basically double dipping.
