Do expired tickets retain their value?

My SIL bought tickets in February 2017 but due to a medical issue was not able to come on our trip, so the ticket was never used but expired in feb 2018.

We are now planning a trip for Feb 2019 and she will be joining us. Are expired universal tix like Disney’s, where it retains the original value and she would just need to pay the difference with today’s price?

As far as I'm aware, an expired ticket is worth $0 even if it has never been used.

expired means not valid for entry. So no value.

If the tickets had an expiration date on them, they are not valid after that date
