Do excursions sell out?

My question is do excursions sell out before the cruise? If not, do excursions sell out while attempting to book on board?

If so which excursions sell out the most?

I am trying to determine if I should book now or wait until I board.

Last month, the am glass bottom boat excursion was sold-out about 2 weeks in advance.

I recommend booking your excursions before you leave....that way it's one less thing to worry about once on board! With PALO, Spa reservations, and, Kids Club registration (if you have children)

You will have plenty to do....we always get together a few days before the 60 day mark for booking and pick out what we want....on the 60th day we call and it's done! There were people on our last cruise screaming at the excursion rep because the excursions they wanted were SOLD OUT! I think its a little much...after all, they get the same slip in their documents that says...you can book them 60 days ahead of time!

I'm not sure what sells our on the 3-4 day cruises....but on the Eastern....the dolphin encounter, the golden eagle catamaran, the 12-Metre Regatta and Rhino Rider. Those were a few that the lady told me about.....And when she checked......they were already sold out for our out eastern at the end of August....

The Western....I know the Stingray encounter is sold out very quickly!! IT'S THE BEST!!!!! I recommend it..We would do that again in a second!!

I tried to book parasailing at CC for my daughter on June 6--this was for our June 29 trip, CC day was July 2--it was all gone.

We noticed that even though some excursions may be sold out in advance; once on the ship they often hold back some spots on the excursion or an entire unadvertised time period. When we called to book in advance on one of our excursions, they listed an extra time that was not in the papers we were sent. Twice before on DCL cruises, when we got onboard, there were new, additional excursions added that we didn't even know about-- perhaps for to make up for the more popular excursions being sold out. I was told by one CM that they often hold back some excursion spots. However, you would still have to quickly book those once onboard though.

On the April 2002 Wonder, we booked the Blue Lagoon beach day an hour before the excursion was to depart. We wanted to make sure that the weather would be OK for a beach day.

We tried to book parasailing on Castaway Cay about three weeks prior to sailing and it was completely booked. Once we got on board, DW checked withe excursion desk and it was still full. The told her to check back the next day - she did and we got two spots! Best advice is to book as early as you can and if all else fails, check again once on board. CM told us that people get on board and change their minds, make other plans, etc.

I wanted to do the 5 Star St John Beach Snorkeling excursion once we got on board and it was sold out, we ended up doing just the St John Beach Snorkeling and it was not that good, I wouldn't do it again...

We tried booking parasailing on Castaway Cay about 60 days out from our cruise -- it was booked. I tried 2 more times in between then to see if perhaps someone had cancelled/changed reservations, etc. No luck. We tried again once on ship.

The morning we arrived on Castaway Cay, we stopped at the hut where they do the parasailing appointments and we were able to get a reservation for my dd14. She loved it!!!

I would also recommend banana boating. Both of my dd's enjoyed this and went on them twice (one time was with a prior ressie and the 2nd was a last minute ressie). If you do this, take some goggles!

What if you book it and then decide not to do it. Are they refundable?
I know once on the ship they aren't but if you book 60 dyas out then decide on the ship thta you don't want to.

I believe you have a few days BEFORE you embark to cancel/change any excursions. I'm not sure exactly how many days you have but I do know the cancellations must be done before the cruise start date.

You can cancel/change your excursion up until 2 days before your cruise.

When I booked my Parasailing on CC, they told me it was filling up pretty quickly. When my sister called the very next day, she got the last 2 spots.

If you do book excursions, make sure you check your tickets that are left in your cabin. We booked the Atlantis Submarine in St. Thomas (the 10 yr old boys LOVED it) at the 60 day mark at 9AM. We booked the first one out (8:30ish am?). I even called after we got the confirmation because the time was not on it and they said yes, we had the first one. I did not check the tickets, just assumed they were right -- wrong! They put the boys (& grandparents) on the 12:30pm excursion (all the others were full by the time I noticed the error the night before) which totally messed up our St. Thomas day! I had wanted to take the girls to Coral World/Cokie Beach but with the boys having to be there for the excursion there wasn't time. We spent the day on the ship -- again (did last cruise also because of their young ages). We loved staying on board but now I have to go back on the Eastern so I can get off at St. Thomas .
