Do you think the personalities of dogs and their owners are the same? Or more specifically, do people choose dogs that reflect their personality. I think so.

Possibly. It is a chicken or egg situation. I'm going to add an unexpected twist to this thread.:goodvibes

My two current resident hounds are calm, sweet, well-trained, certified and insured volunteer Therapy Dogs. We like to think we do good with our Therapy Dog (TD) Volunteer activities. Note: a TD is a well trained pet, not an Assistance or Service Dog

My pooches are following in the footsteps of my other Therapy Dogs They have all been *rescues*.

I have a history of dedicated TD volunteerism - it is my joy and my hobby to share my loving dogs with others. I do try to adopt the more out-going and happy types. But I have had success with a totally spooky girl. Somehow, that scardey girl got over it, and has a real affinity in relating with people with dementia.

Just giving you some food for thought. :)

Well, that's a thoroughly frightening thought:scared1::scared1: My dogs are both serious head cases...I would hate to think about what that says about me!!!

In some ways....Our first bully Winnie was very optimistic and loved life like me. Hooch, who is a rescue, shares one of my traits: loud tense people make him nervous...me too.

Ugh, please no!!! My dog is such a pain in the butt! He's so whiny and is the biggest attention *****!

I don't think I need attention? Do I? Does my butt look big in this dress? How do you like my hair today? Do you think I could lose a few pounds? Helloooooo???? Are you listening?????

I don't really think so. I've had many dogs and they were all rescues--some found one of us and some we chose. They all were different breeds and had way different personalities.

I do think that dogs pick up on people's emotions and tend to react accordingly.

nahhh...my dogs are only interested in rolling in cow poop, smelling their butts, and drinking from toilets. I haven't had any of those urges to try those things.

My female dog is like me... high strung, moody, lovable (at times), only likes certain people - and most of all, extremely intelligent.

My male dog is like DH - friendly to everyone, not a mean bone in his body, lazy (at times), and gassy.
