Can we squeeze a visit to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure into a one week Disney trip? We'll be staying onsite at Disney for 7 nights and we'd like to fit a Universal visit in. We've been to Disney twice before, and the kids want to make it to each park at least once, plus at least one water park. We usually need at least one morning to sit and relax.

Are we crazy to try to fit in a Universal visit? Unfortunately, we've already booked our airfare, so we can't add on any days.

Can you really tour each Universal park in a day each? If we decide we can only fit one Univ. park in, which would you choose? I personally don't really like the big roller coasters, etc..., but the kids do.

We'll be there in late August. Oh, and we'll have a rental car.

We're staying at VWL for 6nights in Oct.
During this time we're planning on a couple resort days where we'll do: O'Hana's, Chef Mickey's, pool hopping, MNSSHP
2 Universal days, maybe a water park, mouseboats
1 (?) AK/EpCot day
Not sure where Im cutting but it will be from the Disney parks. (ahhhhh) We were last at Disney Dec 02. Even then we did the things we hadnt seen in Oct 01. This trip we're hoping Stitch is open.
Good luck

During our October of 2002 trip we did a day at Universal. Since we aren't big coaster fans either we did Universal Studios. It was nice, but not Disney. I thought that in many places the wait was not worth the ride (Earthquake comes to mind the most). The themeing isn't as good in my opinion either. We had lunch at City Walk at the Nascar cafe because we are big Nascar fans - honestly our lunch a year earlier at Race Rock was better.

I'm glad we did Universal and yes if you have done Disney in the past you can easily do it in a day. Would I go back - I doubt it. Just not for us. Others love it though so give it a try.

One thing we did love was Men In Black- awesome ride!

Thanks for replying. I think we'll try to fit at least one of the Univ. parks in. Anyone else have any comments or suggestions?

a few of my insights.

We just got home from a 7 day trip to Orlando, We spent 3 days at Universal/IOA, and 3 days at Disney.

I think you should enjoy the experience of Universal,, our group of 3 adults 4 children ages 5-12. Loved Universal even more.
I think you can do each park in one day. With lots of extra time. It is a busy schedule, and of course you can't see it all,, but will enjoy the day.

If I could change the way we did things I would have done 4 days at Disney,, One for each park, and 2 days in Universal/IOA.

We love rollercoasters and our favorite days were MGM, and IOA.
There is so much for a non-rollercoaster person to do also at these parks,, Just allow an extra long day on these days. USE the FAST PASS or EXPRESS PASS anytime you can!!

Universal offers an on-line ticket for 99.00 for 5 days at the parks. It's a great deal!!Which can give you even more flexability on your trip..
