Do Disney ships have a Brig?

....there you will see that they stored a dead person IN HER CABIN ROOM!

UGH!!!!

Still....cool book to read if you r into the Titantic.:goodvibes
interesting, I do enjoy reading about the Titanic, but it sank in what? 1911? I'm sure they did a lot of things differently back then, KWIM?

So wait, someone died and was stored in their room on the titanic before it went under? Jeez, talk about a bad trip! :lmao::rotfl2:

.....it's an autobiography but the first 20% of the book is very "dry" in reading (background on her) but it picks up after that.

SHe survived numerous ocean liner sinkings...including the Titantic.

IMO, worthwhile to check it out:goodvibes

T.T.F.N.

P.S. Remember the movie (with Kate & Leonardo) , where at the end - you see a ship's cook jumping off the stern of the ship?? WEll...she was best friends with him.
This was one of many things I never knew until I read her book.

I cannot tell a lie. lol

3 day cruise = 11 mickey bars. :scared1:

the other 3 people in my room (dw and kids) combined= 8 mickey bars

In my defense, I did eat some that we ordered for the kids but they fell asleep and didnt want to get back up. Who am I kidding, thats still a lot of chocolatey goodness there. lol

And yet, I wonder why I appear to be the awesome physical specimen you saw before you on the ship? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Getting back to the dead person. So someone booked a trip on the titanic, died, was kept in their room, then sank into the icy ocean? Man, all I got was swine flu, guess I had a good trip! :)

Hey HiddenMickeys,
Your stand up routine is way funnier than Christiian's was on the last night following the show. Maybe you could get a job working for DCL? :lmao: Maybe you could be the official Mickey bar taste tester. You have to consume one Mickey bar from each case to make sure that case wasn't overlooked in the quality control process. Sounds like the perfect job for you, don't ya think? :rotfl:

Oh for sure. lol I can't knock christian though. DW wanted a pic with him and the first 2 nights after the show he just disappeared quickly. On the 3rd night he did again and we went into mickeys mates. After a good bit of shopping in there I had a need to um, well, head back to just outside the theater, if you get my drift lol. So, When I exit those fine facilities, there he is just standing by the theater with nobody around. I went up and said "this is going to sound crazy but if you're not busy would you mind coming to Mickey's mates with me for a quick second?" and without skipping a beat he says "sure, let's go" and walks off in front of me. We get into the store and he says to me "Ok, what are we buying? I have to warn you if you need to try on some swim trunks, you're on your own." :lmao:
So i explain about the photo and at this time my wife had come over as well. He says "i figured that was it. good thing about the swim trunks huh?" and my wife says "what swim trunks?" and we both just laugh. But hey, we got our pic. So I have to say, Christian is a funny guy, and a great one at that.

that's pretty funny, and I did enjoy his brief stand-up on the last night. I just wish he would've been more vocal. We had Clayton on our first cruise and he was always talking and always interacting w/ the guests. I realize they are two totally different personalities, but it's hard not to compare. I'm sure Christiian is a good guy too. :goodvibes

To the individual who asked how I knew about the brig....as others can confirm, after MANY cruises, people have seen a lot. There was an incident of "suspected" spouse abuse going on--woman screaming, etc. Security was sent, "not so dear" husband was removed from cabin; no more noise.

Second separate incident; teen involved in vandalism and accused of assult on another teen on the ship was placed in his father's 24/7 care--moved to inside cabin so he could no longer throw ship's property off his verandah and not allowed out of his cabin except under the immediate supervision of his father in order to go to meals. Comment made by security "We don't put people under 18 in the brig."

Morgue--I'm a physician. Many years ago I was invited to tour the medical facility (met the doc at a guest event). I was shown the area for body storage. As above poster indicated, it isn't a huge dedicated room as on CSI, but is a "body storage area." quotes mine At that time I was told that it had never been used, but that could be "Disney speak" also.

Cool info! Thanks. :thumbsup2 (Well not about the need for the brig but the fact that they have a dedicated place for offenders.)

...ok don't wanna give away too much from the book but yes, one day the ship encountered a big wave (overnight) and the deceased shifted....and landed ontop of a sleeping Violet:eek:!
She made the best of it and wrote about her humerous attempts to get the deceased back ontop of the top bunk but with little luck.
On a different note, it was interesting to read how she got lectured by a Carpathia oceanliner nurse (when she 1st climbed onto the Carpathia after being rescued) who accused her of stealing a Titantic toothbrush and she was going to get into so much trouble for this infraction.
To wit she replied,
"I took it since I learned from my last ship sinking!"

Quite an interesting book as to how she got started being a chambermaid for the White Star Line - filling in for her Mother who was sick one day and she volunteered to fill in for her. The boss over the ship liked her and offered her the job.
Talk about a strange twist of fate.

But wait.......it doesn't end there. More about her if ya wanna read her book as yes....she was even on another ship sinking even before what happened in the early hours of April 12, 1912 while onboard the ill fated ship of dreams - The Titanticpopcorn::.
This one was much worse (imo) as the captain tried to ram the ship aground but was unsucessful. The engine blades were still turning....she's trying to avoid them.......oil in the water....her teeth/mouth is filled with the grit from the oil and bits of steel, cork and.........

makes for good reading I'd say. After the Titantic sinking, she made a remark that she felt a need to slow down and enjoy life. So she took a job onboard a hospital oceanliner that was subsequently (a few months later) hit by a torpedo and it too sank beneath the ocean waves very very quickly.
So, anytime I feel that I am having a bad day...I just think of Violet and reframe my point of view cuz WOW! She lead one amazing life being a Chambermaid / nurse onboard oceanliners.

We attended the session where the Captain and other Officers were available for questions...I asked if, in light of the recent increase in piracy on the high seas, did the Disney ship have any sort of procedures, defenses, etc in case of a "pirate" attack.

I don't recall exactly what the Captain said, as it was rather vague...he really did not answer my question...seem to recall that the proximity to the US (implying US Military) made the likelyhood of an attack very remote.

keep in mind also that this is a security mater, and they would not say anything to anyone outside of the officers and other personal that would need to know. They are not likely to say anything to guest just in case they publish it some where and someone passes it on to someone that would want to evade a cruise ship.

When the girl was sexually assaulted on the Wonder two years ago, the suspect was presumably detained in the brig.
