Do DISForums bring you down?

I usually spend some time here in the lead up to my trips.

This place just comes across as negative; and I get that FP+ has changed things.

But lighten up people.
So you may only ride Soarin once.
Did you really need to see another 6 sets of feet hanging above you to enjoy your time with your family while not working?

WDW is supposed to be Magical, but often DIS just comes across as a looney bin convention.

I leave for Disney on Feb 22nd. I came to this site last time and it was full of happy people offering great advice. I was hoping to read about all the fun recent visitors are having. Now its all folks that are complaining about the FP+ system. I've read a few threads primarily because its all people are posting about.

Being honest its really hard for me as a casual Disney fan to understand what the fuss is all about. My kids are too young to be Commandos and we never really want to ride the same ride twice on the same day. I guess I don't really see the point of that. We did use the old FP system for 1-2 attractions a day. So I guess the new system is aimed at my demographic.

Last year this board was fun and informative for the casual Disney fan, now its depressing. Its a good thing I created this account shortly before my trip last year. Otherwise with the way things are on here now I'd probably be accused of being a troll. I will post my opinion on FP+ when I return.

Me too this particular strategy forum has nothing to do with strategy and everything to do with complaints. It's not fun anymore and maybe the moderators can make a Disney Complaints section so the Strategies board can be cleared up for actual strategies and questions

Sometimes. It's better if I stay on the resort and restaurant forums, and poke a toe into the community forum every now and again. I try not to click on the fp+ threads too much. But a lot of the non fp+ threads in this part of the forum still have people coming in to crack jokes about fp+.

It is indeed an downer and the FP+ has had its problems, but if you look at the names of the *downers*, it is often the same names who tear thing apart, get snarky, rude and try to make it a lot worse then it is.

Then there are the few of the *UNI is perfect crowd* and Disney is a dump crowd, the same thing nothing new just the snarky, false statements and rude comments. Its not true Uni is perfect, but UNI does have some good points, but they seem to have a deep rooted need destroy Disney.

There is also a few that are always starting new threats to keep the fires going, over and over.

These same folks, no matter what the topic is, they start on FP+and Uni again, snarky and rude.

My trick is to ignore them. We are going in May and will see if FP+ is good or bad then. We are not going to Uni this trip we saw HP, though it was pretty good, Liked Jurassic Park but is not interested marvel or in the thrill rides.

Just my observations and opinion.

It's a fair bet that all of the "complainers" would very much like to be talking about something much more positive, as well. A little solid and forthcoming info from the source of the issues would help stop much of the speculation.

If it wasn't for Dis, I would have been checking into YC the day they switched to MB-only and right after MK went FP+ only and without any FP+ reservations in hand. Not a happy start to an expensive vacation. There is still a high value rate to many of these discussions.

I don't think the *downers* would want that as their purpose is to try and convince everyone else that what they are saying is true. To comment back and forth amongst themselves would not serve that purpose.:rotfl2:

When I was first here, they did not bring me down, lots of great information. Then they got big and people started bringing it down.

Now, I just laugh, so much on here is just ridiculous.

DisBoards doesn't get me down.

Software testing on paying guests gets me down. Watching CMs in tears trying to get IT systems to work so they can get a guest checked-into the right room with the right charging privileges gets me down.

Waiting 30-40 minutes for an ADR in a restaurant that is half empty because there are no CMs scheduled to work gets me down.

Buzz Lightyear queue looking like a garbage can in the middle of the day gets me down.

The entire concept of "RapidFill" mugs gets me down.

Comparing the WDW I first visited in Dec '71, the resorts in the 'early '80's (and again in the early '00s) for food quality gets me down.

Watching Disney (apparently) run by revenue analysts not imagineers gets me down.

DisBoards doesn't get me down.

Definitely! I don't mind the FP+ threads (I usually skip them). But the ones that talk about how bad WDW is now make me sad/discouraged.

I think this is just like anything else. You get out of it what you want.

If you don't want the truly negative stuff then avoid those threads. You know that FP+ will have the potential to get you down. I think here lately those are the ones that just turn into negative info, positive info, then the arguments over which info is right/wrong.

Another issue is that many people here are so much better "informed" than average Disney visitor. They like for their "informed" to be right.

I still think that this board can be very useful when planning. I still send friends who make are making their first trips here.....

It would if I ever took these boards seriously, but fortunately I don't. ;)

What I really wonder about is why some people are on here when they've repeatedly stated - for months! - that they have no intention of returning to Disney World in the foreseeable future.

I'm not sure how they have anything useful to offer to a Disney World planning and strategy board.

Also, I wish people would stop calling each other names. Just because someone actually had a good time on their recent vacation and is willing to step up and say so, you don't need to call them a "Kool-Aid drinker" and imply they're stupid and don't know any better. Similarly, people with legitimate complaints don't need to be referred to as "Debbie Downers".

I will say, however, that I will give much more weight to someone's opinion if they've actually been to Disney World in the past few months.

I don't. I send them to easyWDW.com. :hippie:

At times, it brings me down. I've dreamed of this trip for as long as I can remember. Now it's really going to happen, I want to be excited. I try and avoid the negative threads, but there's not a lot else in this board. Fortunately, the UK board are friendly and helpful, so I spend most time in there. :)

I agree. It is what you make it.

I avoid all FP+ threads now adays. No matter which side of the argument you stand on you're wrong somewhere lol ;)

The Disboards don't bring me down, never have. We all have different tastes and expectations. I'm just happy to be going to WDW despite the 9 hour flight knowing that there are many people who will never get to experience walking in to the MK for the first time.

Very well said as a young child going in the 70's and 80's, and even 90's I have observed the decline each year.

I have noticed there is more negative talk about FP+ than positive. I read for the info and keep moving. Regardless of what people think about FP+ we are still going in July and can't wait. :cool1: You can't please everyone all the time and Disney would go crazy if they tried! We do enjoy the rides, but most important we just like being at Disney!
