Do 'dining plan'ers get first dibs at ADR's?

I will be arriving at Disney on WDW on 10/2 staying at CBR for 4 days. We are not on the dining plan. My mistake!!

Called to make ADR for TS for that day and was asked whether I was on the dining plan or not. I said NO but actually a very kind person on this board is giving us their unused credits for this day, so we will actually be using the 'dining plan' for this meal.

The only time they had available for dinner was 9.10pm. So I decided to do lunch, plenty of times available.

If I had said I was on the dining plan do you think more times would have been open to me. Do they try and offer reservations to those on the dining plan first?

We have never eaten TS at Disney before so I am not sure how ADR's work.

Thanks..................Angie

I don't think that it matters. I have not been asked once or twice what plan I was on when I made reservations. And most of the time the times were pulled up and then they asked what plan I was on and if I was staying at one of their hotels.

I don't believe having the Dining Plan gives you any special "in" as far as dining reservations go. The ADR is a way to prioritize seating at TS restaurants. An ADR puts your name on a seating list so that your party is seated at the next available table that will accommodate your group. It doesn't mean that as soon as you walk up you are seated. Even with an ADR, you may end up waiting, but it's usually significantly LESS than those waiting without an ADR.

You also may want to check the fine print on the Disney Dining Program. "Disney Dining Plan may not be sold separately, transferred, refunded or redeemed for cash in whole or in part." In the past when we purchased dining plans from Disney, we weren't allowed to share/give away our credits.

I agree that no advantage is given to those on the dining plan or vice versa. :flower:

No - I don't think so, I have been making ADR's the past couple of days. It hasn't been until they are actually giving the ADR # that they have been asking if I am on a dining plan.

no there is no advantage as far as making reservations and also - why would there be?

It's not dining plan priority, it's that October is going to turn out to be really crowd heavy, and that you waited very late to try to make a reservation. Whatever restaurant you are talking about may also factor in. That date is within the free dining plan offer from over the summer, and people started make reservations about 2.5 months ago for that date.

I promise you there is no change between a dining plan person getting an ADR and a regular paying person. Matter of fact, if they were to do that - they would want the person paying full price not the one on the dining plan!

October is going to be very busy - that's why you can't get an ADR.

I was asked every time I made or changed an ADR this year and last year (before the dining plan, when it was just silver, gold, and platnium plans) if I was on a package that includes meals. We had the dining plan this year, but one meal we were paying out of pocket, and I told the CM on the phone, and she said if you're on a package with dining they note it on the ADR so the restaurant knows when you arrive in case the server doesn't ask or whatever.

Thanks for the info.

I understand I left it late but this trip was planned only last week. It was just that the CM asked me if I was on the dining plan before telling me what was available, so I was just curious.
