Please don't put your baby to bed with a bottle. My DH is a pediatric dentist, and treats tons of kids with nursing bottle caries...while there may be anecdotes of "my kid did it and he turned out fine", trust me when I say there are millions of kids that go to the operating room to have all their rotten teeth cared for. The sugars in the milk literally bathe the teeth while they sleep. Would you want to go to bed like that?

Someone told me that years before we had kids and I always remembered that, so no, they didn't have bottles in bed with them
Both my girls liked the binky. We would put them in crib half asleep sometimes with the binky but then we would take it out of their months when they were sound asleep.

never. I tried not to have them nurse/bottle feed to sleep, either. 2 things my sisters told me when I first had my kids was to start them in their cribs from day one, and to put them down when they were still awake. I did that and all 3 of our kids were (and still are) amazing sleepers.

someone mentioned giving a bottle in their crib was being like putting them to sleep on their belly... I'll admit that I did, however, finally give in and let my daughter sleep on her belly. it freaked me out for a while at first but she would NOT sleep any other way.

I miss their babyhood, but am glad in many ways that those days are far behind us.

I have 2 SILs who are both a bit clueless about parenting. Even my kids, who are older than their cousins, notice that their Aunts do some dumb stuff as moms. It is so hard to bite my tongue and not say anything. However, when the child could be in danger, I speak up (or tell DH he needs to talk to BIL;)). Because my kids are older, I can get away with saying things such as "When DSs were babies, the pediatrician and the parenting books said not to put babies to bed with bottles because of tooth decay... has that philosophy changed?"
