Do credits expire if you check into a different reservation?

If we had a dining plan for 6 days then switch to a DVC rental at a different resort, do the dining plans expire at midnight the day we check out of hotel 1 or do they expire once youve checked into the new hotel and new reservation? Any experience with this?
