My dd9 and dd7 are supposed to be going to see Hannah Montana in Rochester NY on Sunday. We live in a suburb of Syracuse so its about a 75 mile drive on the thruway. Normally this would be no big deal but they are predicting a major storm for Sunday. My sister wants to leave on Saturday and spend two nights in a hotel and come home on Monday morning. I would hate to see her go to all that trouble and then the concert is cancelled. Anyone have any idea if this is something that happens????

I am sure they realize people travel long distances to go, so they may cancel if they feel it is dangerous. I would check their website often.

Democrat and Chronicle just posted that hotels are doing deals for the concert...Hyatt, Clarion , and Crowne Plaza at $89/night or less for Saturday and Sunday - seems they did the same for Hillary Duff concert that did not get cancelled.

we have a hotel for those night s- but are going to try for Hyatt - nicer and closer!!!!

also, here is the # to find out if cancelled: 585-758-5300

let's keep our fingers crossed!!!!:)

They cancelled John Mellencamp's Providence concert last night due to snow

I know Sixers (basketball) and Flyers(hockey) games have not been cancelled due to bad weather.

Not to be a stick in the mud-but, if the artist can't get there... I am 35 mi south of Syracuse btw..lol

the Hyatt is offering $119, not $89.

Cyrus is coming from Toronto - lets hope the storm goes east and she can make it!!!! (ETA: it isn't looking good, every time I check Accuweather, the push the storm back further and further west!....not looking good at all!)

Yea it doesn't look good to me:sad2: If you go to weather.com and put in Rochester and read the winter storm warning alert I have to believe they are going to cancel. Right about the time the concert is supposed to begin theya re calling for the worst of the storm.. My sister already made reservations for Sat and Sunday nights but I just don't know........:confused3

you know this figures! I had a moment where I thought I was crazy to get December tickets and I should just put them on Ebay...if I had sold them it would be a great weekend and I would be kicking myself for that.

If they cancel, will we get our money back?

I'm assuming if it's cancelled they will reschedule sometime at the end of her tour??:confused3 If not you should get all of your money back, I don't know about the extra fees and such though. Doesn;t it just figure that we are having a storm this weekend!!! UGH

I'm in Buffalo and if they are coming from Toronto they will be coming right by me. The weather they are predicting for here is this:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of Western New York beginning 10 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Monday. A major storm could bring strong winds and 16"-20" of snow fall for Buffalo. 8"-12" of snow in the southern tier.

Uusally the southern tier gets more and we get less, looks like the track is going to take a bad turn. The warning just came up recently, it was just a watch the last I heard.

I'm sure living in Buffalo that doesn't seem like a huge amount of snow;) :rolleyes1 but I bet Miley Cyrus isn't cut out for snow like that:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Thanks Nancy for the update!!:thumbsup2

rescheduling sounds good!:)

Generally concerts won't be cancelled unless the talent/crew can't get there--with no bearing on the audience. Usually they know fairly early in the day if the show will be cancelled when it's due to weather. I'll be honest, weather related cancellations are few and far between.

She's coming in from Toronto, and they normally travel at night after load-out which should be done by 1:00 am. It's a two hour drive give or take, and an hour for a border crossing. The snow isn't supposed to get heavy until Sunday morning, so my guess is that the show will go on.

If they cancel you should have no problem getting the face value of the tickets back, but generally service fees are non-refundable.

You know, at this point I think that would be the best option for me too. I am a stress case trying to figure out how all this will work out. My 9 year old has type 1 diabetes and wears an insulin pump and being away from home with my sister for two nights just wouldn't work. I will have to go with them and hang out in the hotel:scared1:

Thanks that's what my DH said too!!!:guilty:

I'm actually just north of the city and we don't see as much as south. This time it looks like the south towns and southern tier aren't going to get as much as the city and northwards. They are saying blizzard like conditions at times on Sunday! It's supposed to start sometime after 10pm tomorrow.

BTW, Toronto to Rochester is a 3 hour drive. It's 90 minutes minimum from the outskirts of the city of Toronto with no traffic, if you have traffic it will take a lot more time. Over the summer it took us 2 1/2 hours to get to Toronto. It is then at least an hour from the border to Rochester suburbs, to actually get into the city will take a bit longer. I drive to both cities on a fairly regular basis.

Busses coming over the border, I'd say more like 2 hours because of all the extra traffic we get from Canada for shopping now that their dollar is so strong.

They said on the news that she wouldn't be able to reschedule. I think the biggest problem is that she won't be able to get here. She will be coming from Toronto -concert there is at 7PM on Sat night. Even if she left right after the concert she will be coming through the storm if it hits when predicted (Sat night around 11 PM)

They should refund ticket prices -I feel really bad for all the kids that will be disappointed. We haven't had that many blizzards in the last few years, I am sorry for the timing on this one. Maybe the storm will get delayed enough for her to get in.

You could make it a fun weekend anyhow. I believe a couple of the downtown hotels have indoor pools. I remember one time my brother's electricity went out his family spent a night at a downtown hotel -went swimming, ordered a movie and had room service. They had a great time.
