Do celebrities have to wait in line, too?

Just a random question because my cousin, sister and I were curious. Does anybody know whether celebrities have to wait in lines, too, or do they get a special VIP "no waiting" - type pass? Has anybody actually seen somebody famous in line?

I know the two times I've been to WDW, I've seen WWE wrestler and author Mick Foley and both times, he was waiting in line like a normal person. And I've read countless stories of people waiting in line with other celebs.

So, I would think that most celebs would prefer waiting in line instead of getting the special treatment. After all, just being in Disney is special treatment enough.

Another thing to consider is that most celebrities can afford to go to WDW during slow times. They aren't like us working stiffs that have to plan vacations around stuff. They feel like going to WDW in October, they can go. And chances are, they won't have to wait in many lines (because of the small crowds) and draw less attention.

At least if I were a celebrity and had the freedom, I would not go during peak times like summer or Christmas week. I'd go when I can get as much out of the trip as possible.

Just my $.02.

If it will cause "undo" commotion, crowds, or is a safety issue for the celeb and their family, etc. Disney will provide celebs with a VIP escort. In this instance then they go in the "exit" and/or go directly to the front of the line. I have seen this happen with parties as large as 20 people.

Disney also has "underground tunnels" that celebs can use to move from one place to another. This allows them to be less visible.

We have a friend who received the special escort as well as used the tunnels.

WDW will also make the call as to whether or not they stand in line based upon how popular/known they are at the time.

I stood in line with Sam Simon (one of the Simpson's/Drew Carey Show creators). He also stood in line with a WDW VIP Tour guide by his side. He was very nice.

I remember one time we were there and Michael Jackson was at MK the same day we were...we had left, Thank goodness...they shut down Peter Pan's flight for a while so his kids could ride with him--making sure the cars in front of and behind him were empty. That was in a July, so I guess he didn't care about crowds. The only time I've ever seen anyone famous without an escort was Harry Smith (from CBS this morning) and he was just getting on the monorail with his wife and child. He may have had an escort at the park.

I've seen Tom Cruise, Brett Farve, Joe Perry and Steve Tyler in the parks, walking - not waiting in line for rides.....

I'm glad there's a VIP policy - I would not want to have to walk through a huge crowd just to get to the Flying Dumbos..... :teeth:

I would have stood in stunned silence, unable to talk or move if I had seen Steve Tyler. How long ago did you see him? I wonder if he's due for another trip?:teeth:

I believe Joe Perry and Steven Tyler were at the opening of the Rock n Roller Coaster, I got this from another thread way back when. Joe Perry is my dream man!!! You can have Steven.

Living in NYC sometimes we have 'celeb' sightings, although not as much as LA LA land. Everytime I see a celeb there is always SOMEONE noticing them and then a crowd forms. I would think at Disney celebs prob don't want to be seen or noticed and opt for special treatment. After all they are on vaca and prob don't want to bring their work with them! (as do us normal folks too)

Great post! Prob will generate alot of discussion!

We saw Vincent D'Onofrio of Law and Order CI at MK for MVMCP in December. He had an escort with him and went in the exits for the two rides we saw him at (PC and BTMRR). There weren't really any lines either because even with him going in the exits, my husband and daughter were able to ride in the same train on BTMRR. Great guy, though, stopped and talked to us. YUMMY!!

We were waiting in line to go see Winnie the Pooh in Toon town (this was the day the 75 Mickey's were unveiled). We had a long wait because Janet Jackson was in there and getting her picture taken with Pooh and Tigger. We were first in line for pooh and my dd kept asking what was taking so long and I told her that Janet Jackson is in there. She then said, "Janet Who?? I don't care who is in there, she should have gotten in line" :rotfl: I have no idea if she was heard or not, the cm just stood there chuckling :lmao:

We saw Kelly Ripa, Mark Conseulos and their three kids last year. They were with a guide in a plaid blazer and went in the exit of the Peter Pan ride to get on. They walked (quickly) through Fantasyland--she was pushing a disney double stroller with two kids in it and he had one kid on his shoulders. It was pretty cool!!

I am not an Aerosmith fan but I ran into Steven Tyler in Vegas 2 years ago. We were waiting for the elevator together and rode it up with just me, him and his two bodyguards. He was very nice, I didn't want to bother him so I didn't say anything, but when the doors to the elevators opened he let me on first and then in the elevator struck up a conversation asking how I was enjoying my stay, etc.

He was also at the pool one day in one of the cabanas, the cabana was closed off so you couldn't see inside but when there weren't many people around he did jump into the pool for a dip to cool off.

I usually go to WDW with my dh when he is there for the Children's Miracle Network convention. There are usually a lot of celebrities there for the convention that we usually end up seeing in the parks, too...Marie Osmond, John Schneider (Dukes of Hazard), Mary Lou Retton, Billy Dean among others I cannot remember right now. Anyway, every celebrity we have seen in the parks were being escorted and entered the rides from the Exits, but they did ride with other park goers. They just didn't stand in line with them.

When waiting to get on KS over at Animal Kingdom (Before they offered Fast Passes) we stood in line behind Mark McGuire and his family. Nobody seemed to notice or care.

I was about to reply and say that I honestly didn't understand anyone's need to approach a celebrity. Being in NYC I have seen my share of celebs on the street, and I always do the, "Oh yeah, that's so and so" and move on bit.

But as I was waiting for the page to load I remembered my teenage years, running through the streets of NYC screaming and yelling for the guys in Menudo. Hiding out in hotels, pretending to be guests just to sneak into their rooms (yes, it did work too LOL) So Ok, I take back what I said in the previous post and reword it....

I honestly don't understand an adults need to approach a celebrity. LOL
