Do Castaway Club members receive a lanyard every cruise?

We are sailing this Sunday and I've managed to find 3 castaway club lanyards from a previous cruise, but need 5 total for our family. We wear them all the time to keep track of our room key.

Will I receive 5 new ones at check-in?

We have always received new ones each time we cruise. If someone in your party isn't a CC member, though, bring one for that person.

This is good advice. I thought that cruiser knew that if it's their first cruise, they wouldn't be able to get one. However, on our cruise last year, a family asked us how they could get a lanyard when they saw us with it. I explained that they provide it at check in depending on your CC status. I was wondering why they didn't receive them so I asked her about her CC status. She said silver and that was her first cruise. I explained to her that she only becomes Silver CC member once she completes her first cruise. She said she was under the impression that she would be Silver as soon as she checked in. Since they don't voluntarily inform first time cruiser that they don't receive these lanyards (unless they ask), some of them are left wondering.

Yes I have a drawer full of the as well, only usually wear them the first day and then resort to putting the key in my pocket. My key is always the one that goes for the lights...lol

When I found our old lanyards, they also had our room keys, so we are planning to bring an old key for the lights

We always use the KKTW card from our first cruise for the lights. Bit of fun to connect our first with the present, yeah?

We are platinum and on almost every cruise our plastic pouches tear at the seam, this is relatively new, I think the plastic is thinner these days than in the past. So we can't reuse them.

We planned on reusing our gold lanyards the second time around but they split just taking the old KTTW out of the pouch (still at home). And yes I had all my pins on the old one too. I'd pay extra for a good secure pouch just so we don't have to keep looking at the old silver and gold ones in the drawer. Just hate to throw reusable things away. Any one found a source for a good clear pouch for the lanyard (not a minimum of 100 per box)?

So good to know! We don't use the lanyards and I never know what to do with them when they give them to us. Glad I can say oh no thanks next time. Now if I could figure out what to do with all my free backpacks....

These phone bags are great, we have used them on several cruises and in Hawaii!

We are DVC members so usually get 2 lanyards per cruise - Castaway Club and DVC. The DVC lanyard pouches are invariably nicer! They usually have a metal grommet to keep the hook from tearing through, and are sturdier in general. We've gotten so many lanyards that we have extra "nice" pouches we tend to take with us on any new cruise - just in case.

I use them for work. the clear pouches work gives out are worse than the Disney ones. I have to keep a physical key with my badge so the key destroys the pouch after 6 months. So I reuse ours that way.

I don't use the lanyards but my husband said he prefers the DVC ones. At one point he was actually able to combine the Gold and DVC lanyard together. Not really sure why he did that, but everyone we saw asked him how he did it. And by the end of the cruise, we saw a lot of the combo.
