DH has a 1988 Corolla . . .had it since it was brand new . . .it's in pretty good condition . . .few rust spots . . .lots of mileage . . .occasional oil leak . . .but it's always started up for him every morning . . .

Today, we went looking at new vehicles . . .DH was thinking of getting the Jeep Liberty . . .he was going to purchase it tomorrow . . .it's a beautiful vehicle . . .only problem is . . .he's having second thoughts . . .

I told him he doesn't need a new vehicle if he really can't part with the old one . . .heck it'll save me about $300/month . . .besides his car still runs . . .why should he get a new vehicle just for the sake of having something new?

Yep, vehicles have feelings.;)

I got my truck on New Year's Day this year. It's actually a year old though.:) My SO's truck is 18 years old, his car is 10 years old.

We don't buy new cars, we've never been able to afford them. My DH has a company car and a 92 Honda Accord. The Accord runs great, never had any problems with it, never had to put a lot of money into it. But, it is 10 years old with close to 200,000 miles. We are now starting to worry about taking it places. We try to only drive it when we absolutely have to. My 1997 Suburban is great also, but a Chevy is not a honda. We are actually selling it, in hopes of finally getting out first brand new car. The Suburban is what we drive everywhere we go. It already has 90,000 miles, and we want to sell it while it s still worth something.

Does your husbands car get driven a lot? Is he starting to worry one morning it won't start? Now is an excellent itme to buy a new car if you are in the market. Many car manufacturers are offering 0% financing for 60 months!

:p LOL Sheree:p

After 14 years, I think He could use a new car. DW and I are looking for a new car this week

I guess if you really want one and have the money, then a new one is a good idea. If its not necessary and payments may be tough, then maybe waiting is a better option.

We currently have a 1993 Honda Civic and a 1998 Honda CRV. We are supposed to be getting FIL's 1998 CRV and when we do we plan to trade that in for either a new CRV or Odessey(havent decided yet). Then the Civic will go to DH's neice.

DH has decided he cannot part with his car . . .I guess he's going to wait until it falls apart. . .LOL Actually, its just used to go to work every day . . .12 miles per day . . .He said he cannot justify buying a new vehicle when the car starts up every day for him and is very low maintenance. He does his own oil and filter changes and does his own repairs on it . . .

I'm a little disappointed only because the 0% financing right now is awesome and that brand new Liberty looked great!

I, myself drive a 1992 Mazda . . which will be my DD car in 3 years . . .I suppose I'll be the first one getting a new vehicle in 2005.

Cool. I actually have a 1988 Corolla as well.. But I'm selling it this week. Family got a new car and I'm getting the next hand me down. LOL... :) A 1989 Camry now. :)

Here's ours:

1969 Skylark
1970 Cutlass
1970 GTO
1976 Fury
1980 Trans AM
1984 Camaro
1984 Buick Estate wagon

(and quite a few others DH keeps hidden around  )

and YES, they DO have feelings! Several times over the years these cars have broken down while I have been drivng them (usual stuff, timing chains, alternators, etc)...but it's almost like they can't bear to do it to DH the mechanic
