Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I am from Prince Edward Island. We are going to Disney in December.

I was wondering if Canadians are able to take advantage of mousesaver rates if you buy an annual pass? and can you buy an annual pass from Holiday House. I have only seen this board talk about 7 day passes. We are going for 10 days and I didn't do all the math yet, but I think if I can take advantage of the annual pass rates for rooms it may be cheaper than buying the 7 day pass and I like the flexibility of going to the parks for the 10 days if we choose.

Working on a signature for next time...........
:)

Hi Jxgallon and a great big welcome to the DIS! Canadians are certainly eligible to purchase annual passes for WDW, and they're available at the Disney stores in Canada. I just phoned for a quick price check and was quoted $536.41 (adult) and $456.49 (child aged 3 - 9). If you have a Disney Club card, those prices go down to $513.36 and $436.51 respectively. Those prices are in Canadian dollars, and include all taxes. Sorry, I can't answer your question about Holiday House.

The break even price for the annual pass is generally considered to be about 8 days. However, the pass can really be worthwhile if you are able to use it to get a reduced rate at one of the WDW hotels as well. Only one of the adults in your party needs to have an annual pass to get the better room rate, and the reservation should be made in their name. Also keep your eyes peeled for special Canadian rates for hopper plus passes at WDW. Last year the deal was "buy one get one 1/2 price for the 7 day parkhopper plus pass" and the passes were valid from early January until late April. Unlike other types of Disney tickets, any unused days did expire, however. A few years before that the passes were good from November through April, so with attendance down a little at WDW this year, I'm hoping for the best!

Hi jxgallon,
I just saved my family and my Mom US$1418.00 by buying an annual pass to get the unbelievable deals at the AKL at Christmas!! That figure includes the cost of the pass!! The savannah view rooms were $427.35 a night but with the discount the room was $187.00!!
I was able to book both rooms under my name using only one pass!If you are planning on staying in a moderate or deluxe resort I urge you to get the pass!
On a different note we are heading to PEI on Sunday1 DD is enrolled in UPEI's VET camp! Hope we have great weather!
Gail
You don't have to have the pass at the time you make your booking. Just make sure you have your voucher or the actual pass to present at check-in.

Hi Gail, hope you enjoy your trip to PEI. We are actually going to Fort Louisburg in August. I love Nova Scotia almost as much as PEI. When you say I don't need the pass when I book, do I need to tell them when I book that I will have an annual pass. I have already booked my rooms so will I have to rebook? I have All Stars Movies booked. My second reason for wanting an annual pass is this... If we absolutely love Disney as I think we will, I will probably have enough aeroplan points to fly at least 2 of us (DH, DD and myself) back next fall. With the annual pass it means we could return for the price of one airline ticket and the rooms. I really appreciate your help. I have a good travel agent looking for flights but I find out stuff in these groups and I am educating her (seems I should get commission on my own trip). I will have her look up the price at Holiday House to see if they sell Annual Passes. They only sell through travel agents and often have deals so I may get lucky.

Thanks for all your help....

I just called my travel agent and she ordered me an annual pass and at the same time changed my current reservation at Riverside to $89.00 US a night (plus taxes). I had originally booked the hotel about 2 months ago but was able to change it. I think that if you are getting an Annual pass separate you might have to show them the pass once you arrive or something like that. Since my agent did them both at the same time, she simply told the Disney people to change my reservation. It is wonderful. What a great savings. We only needed one pass and my daughter and I will get our regular 7 day hopper plus passes. We usually don't go to WDW within one given year so an Annual pass is usually not worth it to us but this year with the hotel discounts - it was a real bargain!
It is always nice to get savings since the dollar is doing so poorly!

Hello jxgallan,
I had already booked our rooms at AKL when the Annual Pass deal came out. I just called CRO, gave them my confirmation number and asked if I could get the new price if I bought an annual pass. I told the agent I didn't have a pass yet and she said no problem and gave me the discounted rate and the phone number to order my annual pass!
You must be luckier than I am when it comes to getting Aeroplan seats to Florida!! The only time I was succesful was when I called 356 days ahead at 7:00 am to book seats!
Enjoy Louisbourg! Gail

Just a reminder:

To secure the AP rates, only 1 member of your party needs to be an AP holder. Which means, anyone travelling with children, it MAY be more cost effective to buy a child's AP. :)

I am travelling with a child and originally thought this is a great idea - I would get hopper passes for myself and my husband and a child's annual pass to get the cheaper room rate. I was told that I could not do this because the room would have to be booked in the name of the holder of the AP to get the discount. Since the room would have to be in the name of one of the adults (me or my husband) we had to get an AP in my name or his.
Since we are saving a 'goodly sum of money', I am not complaining at all! I figure we were trying to push our luck anyway!
