Do attraction refurbs suddenly start or are they announced in advance?

I know that in reality anything can happen at any time. Typically though when it comes to refurbs of attractions do they announce them in advance? If so how far in advance to they announce it?

Asking simply because at the moment for our early December trip no big attractions are currently scheduled to be closed for refurb. Should I expect some new refurb to be announced between now and then?

Their generally announced a good amount of time in advance but they can arise at any time

Fairly early in the year we have a good idea of the refurbs for that year

But, the expectation of these things being "announced" can be easily deflated.
Look how little "advance notice" there was on something as major as the closing of The Great Movie Ride.
