Do as I say not as I do

Chicago has a ban on handguns????

I did not know that. But SAD IMO.

Sounds like another Rosie O'Donnel, she bashes people like Charlton Heston or Tom Selleck for being into guns, but then in sists that her own security be able to carry them.

You don't understand... you must be important and better than the rest to have such liberties...

Chicago does not have a "Ban" on handguns. Chicago requres every handgun owner to have a registered handgun. Chicago requires the person to bring the gun into a police station to regester it. It is illegal for a person in Chicago to have an unregestered handgun, even for the purpose of regestering the handgun. And the city of Chicago does not provide the form needed to register a handgun to anyone who does not have a regestered handgun.

So no Chicago does not have a Handgun Ban.

First of all, nearly every politician in Chicago is dirty or is suffering from guilt by association. It is an old, nasty patronage system that seems to work very, very well in most wards. I wouldn't be surprised if the accusations are true, but until she is tried she is innocent. If the weapon found in her office is possessed legally, is your beef with her or the perceived hypocrisy in the law? And do you have some insight into her personal beliefs regarding the handgun law?

OH ok, not so sad:thumbsup2

I was not trying to stir anything up, the article was a bit confusing to someone without knowledge of that law.

"Aldermen are an exception to Chicago's ban on handguns, and Adam said he believes Troutman's gun was lawfully owned and kept."

So Voters can own a handgun, as long as they register.

She can not have the gun legally due to the laws on the books. Only Police and other related officials can have a gun. Yes my beef is with the hypocrisy of the law and the people who enforce and pass them. I don' know her personal belieds, but she does have a gun when her constiuents do not. IF she is guilty then she is a hypocrite. I have the same problem when politicians exempt themselves from any law, or use their position to gain favor. And there are a LOT of them on both sides who do this:mad:

Actually, if the gun is properly registered, state law allows her the right to carry. Alderman are included in the "police and other related officials".

Then I sit Corrected:) . Alderman can have a gun. Thank you for the correction. :thumbsup2

I still find the "We can do it, but not the everage everyday citizen" thing to be wrong.

Voters can have a gun IF they can register. To register the gun requires the gunowner to break the other law to do so. When the gunowner shows up with the gun to register it, they are arrested for having an unregistered gun. Fun Fun. Catch 22 thing.:dance3:
