Are there any toilets at the resorts that have 2 bars, one on each side like this ? I have only seen them with a bar on one side and one at the back!

My husband needs both sides to hold on for balance , so I think I might have to buy a frame to put around the toilet.

Or has anybody hired a shower chair that would fit over the toilet or are they too close to the wall?

Thanks Vicky

WDW are really really good at helping those out with disabilities. I very much doubt they have the fold down hand rail down the side of the toilet at any resort. The facilities in the US tend to be a little different to those here in the UK. I have found this webpage which may help you

If you need anything specific, just speak to the resort/guest services in advance of your trip. I have no experience of specifics in this matter but would imagine the good old Disney customer service would prevail.

Just did a quick Google search on equipment hire and came up with this

which may or may not be useful, but my first port of call would certainly be the resort themselves!

I honestly don't know if any of the resorts have that - none that I've seen anyway. However, if you need to rent equipment check out SueM's FAQ sticky at the top of the forum, I think it's Care Medical that works well with WDW resorts for such things.

Enjoy your vacation!

Thanks, I've been in contact with Care Medical and we think we will hire one of their rolling rehab chairs for showering DH and by the pool,

The toilets are our major concern at the moment and it's such a hard thing to explain over the phone to the resort.

We've made do for nights away from home in the past but 2 weeks is a bit harder

I believe it would be called a "toilet safety frame" (we had to get one for my father after his stroke). They can google it if they don't understand.

Good luck!

When we stayed at Pop Century we were able to get a portable setup which can fit over an existing toilet. It's not secured to the floor or wall, but it has arms on both sides. It does help to lift yourself off the toilet. It's called a bedside commode, but it can be used over a toilet. Pop has some of these to lend out at no additional cost.

If I remember correctly it's not available at all resorts. You may want to find out if your resort will do it. You can rent these. Also, you can buy one for about $100 at the drug stores or other stores, here.

Medicare provided a bedside commode when my dad needed one. It could be used over a regular toilet when the bucket was removed, and it did not get in anyone else's way in my parents' one-bathroom home.
