on formal night?

I wore a cocktail dress for formal and semi-formal last year, but recently bought a 'couldn't resist, have to have it for the cruise', full-length dress for this trip. I haven't worn a full-length gown since my senior prom 28 years ago!

Who else here wears (or is going to wear) a full-length?

I wore a full length gown on our last formal night. It was very fun to get dressed up. My SIL did too. I say go for it!

I also wore a full length dress. Enjoy!

I am wearing a midnight blue floor length as well as a gold floor length gown on our cruise. In addition, I have a gown with a fish tail train for our anniversary evening in Palo. I say enjoy yourself, how many opportunities do we get to go all out anyway?

Melissa, we're dining at Palo on our (15th) anniversary too.

I want to go buy another formal to wear to Palo now.:hyper:

We travelled in Jan '04 with a group of 60 and almost all the women wore full length gowns. I always say a cruise is a chance to wear those mother-of-the-bride dresses again and especially those bridesmaids dresses you paid $300 for! Go for it and Enjoy! You won't regret it!

I'd love to wear the mother of the groom dress I have. The dress has lasted longer than the marriage! Unfortunately I think I've "relaxed" the shape a little and it's too small. I really don't think my Curves membership is going to work that fast since we're going in a month. Oh well.

You will see both. My wife wears gowns and cocktail dresses. it all depends what she fancies! Have fun!

We are going in Sept for our honeymoon. Due to very tight budget we are running away to get married, just the two of us. Since I won't be getting a big dream dress, I am going to buy a simple formal/cocktail dress for the wedding. I also intend on wearing it on the cruise as well as every anniversary that I can fit into it. I mean how often can you get dressed up!:p

Teresa, glad I could cheer you up.

I just tried the dress on and wonder of wonders, I can still get in it!!! Not sure I think it "fits" but I can still zip it up. I intentionally picked one with a flaring skirt so some parts of my anatomy don't cause a problem. Now the decision is ..do I want to? I usually wear it with a "suck em up" and not sure I want to endure that on a cruise. I think that's a decision I'll make just before we sail. We leave 4 weeks from tonight.

I'm still planning to do some shopping and if I can find a sparkly top to wear with evening pants, that's probably the way to go. Sooooooooooo much more comfortable.

ericamanda01, I hope you've discussed the "running away" with your folks. Moms can get their feelings hurt pretty easily. I know I'd be heartbroken if I couldn't be part of my daughter's wedding. Doesn't have to be fancy, I just want to be part of it. Since she's having too much fun as a CM I doubt there'll be any romance any time soon. No time. But a lovely coctail dress that you can wear multiple times sounds wonderful.

CM_Mom, we're neighbors! I drive to Plano at least once a week to shop at Central Market.:D

Absolutely floor length gown on formal night! Where else can we wear them? I have been on five cruises and that's my favorite part! Thanks for the formal Palo idea... I"m off to do more gown shopping now!

Found my latest one in a resale shop. Midnight blue with enough beading to add 5 lbs to the suitcase. It cost me all of $20. At that price if I only wear it once it will be worth it. Having a job that involves wearing scrubs on a daily basis. I love to dress up when the chance presents itself.

CM mom, if you want to go for the dress, you can always change clothes after dinner and pictures. I applaud you going to Curves and hope the dress fits just fine in a month.

I will be wearing a formal when we are at Palo celebrating our 5th anniversary. Go for it!

just got my GORGOUS gown in. long pink with lots of beads. Found it online for 39.00. I love the formal nite, when else do you get to do it up, so I say go for it!!

The resale shops are a great idea. I might just check them out. If not, eye R.N., the one I have is midnight blue with beads all over the top. But I don't think we're going to be on the same cruise.

Even if Curves doesn't help the gown, I feel better and my Dr will be overjoyed. She's been trying to encourage me to exercise for 10 years with VERY mixed results...mostly none.

Since I'm making DH put on a blazer and tie, I guess I'll get "gussied up" and do him proud.

 Yes your so right. My DD got married last Aug. The only thing I will do is maybe have it made shorter. I do wear long gowns but not too long bueacse I have a hard time wearing heals on the ship. But thats just me!! I love getting dressed up on the cruise. I hate it when people don't get dressed up on formal night. Do you know what I mean???

I will be wearing a black, floor length dress for formal night, and am bringing along 2 other "dressy" dresses for Palo and semi-formal.

I wore a full-length gown, but saw many cocktail-length dresses, so you won't be out of place either way. Same on our recent Carnival cruise also, saw both types in abundance. People really did dress for the occasion though and we really enjoyed it!
