I want to know if it's okay to leave it on all the time, or if you're supposed to only use it for a few hours at a time.

I have one. I only leave it on when I'm viewing something.

I got one for Mother's Day. Best MD present ever, by the way!!! I have left it running all day by mistake and it seemed fine. Usually I only run it if I am feeling nostalgic or if we have guests.

I'd love some more info on this. We want to get one for my FIL for his upcoming birthday and load it with family pictures.

What brands do ya'll have and what do you like and dislike about it?

I am looking specifically for:

1. Ease of use
2. A USB port so that we can download some photos from our PC's.

I got one for my dad's birthday, and he loves it. It has a timer on it so it's on during the day, switches off at night. It is a Philips PhotoFrame.

I have mine on when I am in the house. At the weekend or during time off work it is on for 14 - 16 hours a day and it does fine.

Mine has been on non-stop since Christmas day. I don't even notice it anymore...need to upload new pics!

I think mine is a Phillips also...will have to check. The only downside is the pics I downloaded were huge file size (too many pixels) and it only holds 5, so make sure your resolution isn't too high or it won't hold much.

I got one for Christmas last year (love it). Sometimes it is one for a couple of days and it is fine. Other times I forget to turn it on at all. Mine is a Mustek at least that is what's on the back of it. DH bought it at staples the day after Thanksgiving.

I got a 5.6" Pandigital at Linens & Things about 2 weeks ago. I use it at work, about 8-9 hours a day, 5 days a week.

It's been fine so far. I didn't read the manual thoroughly, but I did glance through it and don't remember seeing any kind of warnings about over using it.

Whether it will hurt the frame to leave it on depends on the type of display used and whether or not you have it displaying one image or doing a slideshow of multiple images.

Our frame is made by Phillips and we got it last year from Amazon for $200. I saw it at Costco not much later for a little under $200. Our model has direct access via USB and a slot for a compact flash card. That means the picture capacity is only limited to the size of the pictures and the card. Currently it's flipping through 200+ pictures using the slideshow option.
