Do all the table service restaurants ask if we are staying onsite when checking-in?

A few weeks ago myself and 3 of my friends from Orlando had dinner in Tony's Town Square and when we checked in for the ADR the Cast Member asked if we were staying onsite? Since I was staying at the Contemporary I said that I was. Now I think they are asking just for their records to see how many guests are staying onsite and to see if they are on the Dining Plan, so someone correct me if they think that is wrong. So I am just wondering if the other table service restaurants are asking that question because it was the 1st time I heard it when checking in for any ADR.

The last time I came to WDW was summer 09 and I don't recall anyone asking if I stayed onsite or not.

When I go to a restaurant as a walk in they asked me which resort I'm staying. When we went to 1900 park fare for Breakfast, I did not have an ADR and asked if there is availablity and they asked me which resort and I told them GF and they sat me within 5 mins. When we went to Boma for breakfast and dinner, they asked me where I was staying and I told them AKL and they told me I'll sit next.

I know the server has asked us if we have the ddp but never if we were staying onsite when we checked in. I wonder why it would matter? The only thing I could think of is that perhaps the MK had EMH that night? and you had a late dinner and they wanted to know if they had to get you out of the restaurant quicker if you were not staying on property? Just an idea. Linda

It was not PM EMH that evening and we had the ADR for 5:40 PM.

No, they don't. I don't recall ever asked this while checking into a restaurant, whether walk-in or with a reservation. I was last at WDW two weeks ago. When booking reservations, yes, I'm generally asked it then. I usually say I am staying at the Dolphin because I don't need them taking the extra time to call up the resort reservation.

At Jiko, they ask if you're staying at AKL, because AKL guests get a special "thank you" amuse bouche. Otherwise, I've just been asked if I'm on the dining plan.

They do that sometimes, mostly at the signature restaurants at the hotels. I think its just for their own information. If i'm not staying at that hotel I say no and say where I am staying. Like for Jiko I said no and Narcoosees I said yes because we were staying at Grand Floridian

several times during our trip and we just returned a week ago. We were staying at CR. It didn't make a difference as we were seated promptly for every ADR.

They asked us a couple weeks ago when we had a breakfast at CP. We were staying at the CR, but I don't think it made any difference. I figured it's just some kind of survey.

I've been asked if I was on the DDP plenty of times, can't remember if it was in the context of staying onsite. I always assumed that it was because there is confusion over what is covered and what isnt .
