Do all TAs do this?

We are in the preliminary stages of planning our August 2014 trip to Disney. (Let's face it, I've been in the preliminary stage since I came back from my last trip in 2009!) Anyway, last time we went (and all other times prior, as well) we used a AAA travel agent. I never even thought of having them make my dining reservations and so I was up early the day my window opened and made my ressies. This time, I'm thinking of using a Disney Vacation Planner and discovered that they will do this for me. Is this something all agents do? Have I been missing out on this all this time? Just wondering!

Most if not all of the Disney specific TA's will do. Not sure about AAA.

As a former worker of AAA I can tell you they will do your ADR's for you but check your local office hours... My old office does not open until 9am

Yes, but a DTP specializes in Disney and is likely a College of Disney Knowledge graduate... a TA may or may not specialize and may or may not be a CoDK grad.

A word to the wise on TAs booking ADRs... if you have any "must haves" but "hard to gets" (i.e. CRT, BoG, LC) you might want to check if they will be on the phone or online when your 180th day window opens at the crack of dawn... not when their office opens or the next time they are scheduled to work... most home-based TAs or DTPs will be on the computer at 6am or phone line at 7am... in my experience AAA agents will do it when they get around to it.

I like to do my own ADRs, but my AAA TA has offered to do them. I use one that is a Disney Specialist in the office, runs informational seminars there, is a Disney College thing-y graduate, former CM (I think). I don't think they will do the hard to get, calling the second they open ones, but they will do them.

You have to be a graduate of the College of Knowledge in order to be a Disney travel planner. It's a requirement. I personally do this for my clients. I get up early to make ADR's on their 180+10 days as a free service. I also include personalized itineraries, tips & gifts for those that book through me. I also book anything extra like tours or special excursions.

I always booked myself until I became a TA and realized what they can all do for you... now I wish I had used one all along! Might as well for free gift cards and the extras!

Our AAA TA did our ADR's for us, which can be very convenient but I would do it myself next time, I really wasn't thinking about it when I agreed to it. The way they were made, there really wasn't a good day to see Wishes or MSEP. I would have looked at closing times, which days MSEP was playing, etc and she really wasn't looking at that.

I am an independent travel agent and have always booked all of my clients dining reservations for them!! I would never think of having it any other way. I make suggestions and take care of everything for them

As I have been planning my trip, I have realized that i really like it and would like to possibly become a ta. I have no idea where to start. Would you mind pming me and giving me some tips on how to get started?

I booked through aaa but made my own ressies bc although she was willing to do it, it would not have been until 9 am or possibly later, as she isn't always easy to get ahold of. We wanted CRT for 8, so I had to get in right away.

Thanks guys! I didn't know this information. We usually use AAA, but for our next trip we may change to a Disney Vacation planner. Thanks for all the help!
