Do a 2 and 6 year old need anything more than a birth certificate for Bahamas cruise?

Last time we cruised was 10 years ago and had no kids. We now have two little ones and just booked a cruise for the end of the year hoping it works out with all this covid. What does a 2 and 6 year old need to get on the ship?

Also, as adults, do we just need a passport or a passport and drivers license?

Legally for US citizens, currently, anyone 18 and over must have a government issued photo ID to do a closed loop (Caribbean) cruise out of a US port. That can be driver's license or passport book or passport card. If you're using a driver's license, you also need a birth certificate.

For under 18 a birth certificate is the minimum requirement. Unless the child has a passport, then that's all that's required.

If you have a passport, you don't need the driver's license.

This is a different cruise line but it says a birth certificate will do. However, age 2 was when both my kids got Passports. With the need to prove ID etc with schools, and youth sports, I would strongly suggest getting them passports. You won't regret it.
As for anything else you may need, depends on when you cruise and what the covid rules are. At some point I suspect covid shots will be required for even kids.

Under current policies, the requirement for a closed-loop cruise from the US is a birth certificate or passport for kids and a birth certificate and government-issued photo ID, or a passport, for adults. Adults will need the photo ID to reboard the ship in ports.

Our kids have had passports since 1 and 3. There’s no way I’d travel internationally without a US Passport. It’s easy to get, and the most powerful document you could have in another country.

Imagine having to flight evac and your kids can’t fly out. Be sure to get the book, not the card. Can’t fly with the card.

As mentioned by previous posters, all you need to have is a birth certificate for < 18 years old and birth certificate plus government issued photo ID for 18+. But even before the pandemic, I always highly recommended getting passports for everyone, as they were an added insurance just in case something happened and you needed to disembark in a foreign port and fly home. Now with COVID-19, I think anyone not getting a passport to cruise is taking a huge risk. Kid's passports (<16yo) are good for 5 years. Adults are good for 10. Just make the investment.
