Do 6th graders have birthday parties?

Our Elementary School ends at 6th grade. So, for us, 6th grade was the last year of big birthday parties for friends. From 7th grade on, my kids allowed to have a few friends over for snacks and cake or just to hang out for their birthdays, but not an expensive party. I'm still debating whether to make an exception for a sweet 16 party. I have a few years before I have to worry about that, thank goodness.

We told our son 10th birthday (Double Digits) was the last year for the 20+ kid party. Last year he invited 4 friends to Dave & Buster's for lunch and video games.

For his 12th and 13th b-days(middle school), DS did co-ed skating parties. For his 14th, he had a magician(real one, not the corny kind) as he was really into magic that year. For his 15th, he did a movie with a few friends. For his 16th, we set up several X-boxes in the church basement and he had some kids come and do that, play pool, eat pizza and drink soda. Some of them brought their guitars as well. He invited all boys this time, and me and the other parent who stayed made ourselves scarce and let them have a blast.

My DD's birthday is in July. She has been having sleep overs for the last two years. We have a thing here called South Shore Frolics which is a festival that has fireworks and a movie on one night by the lake. We all went there together. It was she and three of her friends. Afterwards we came back to the house and had cake while they played games and stayed up half the night.
Her other friend went minature golfing for her birthday. I used to plan my DD's b day s but have let her decide what she wants to do in the last few years.

My daughter is in 6th grade and just turned 11- 6th grade is Jr. High here and they still have parties but not like the ones they had in grade school. For my daughters party she had a sleepover with 5 girls and 2 boys (the boys stayed until 11 then went home-no sleeping over for them!!) When they all got here they had pizza and then we all went out to the Melting to for chocolate fondue dessert. They came home and went downstairs into the rec room and just hung, played wii and listened to music until it was time for the boys to leave- then they did who knows what until 6am when they fell asleep!

My daughter is in 6th grade and turning 12 next month we are going to Disney for her birthday because that is what she wanted and plan on doing some surprises down there so I told her we are going to do a smaller birthday party this year she decided on a sleepover with 6 girls instead of the big parties that normally have over 30 kids. I gave her the option of the lazer tag, skating place but she decided to go with a sleepover. Now I am trying to come up with ideas on what to do we have every game system and tons of music. We are having a New Years sleep over so I told her depending on how that goes then I will know for sure about her birthday sleepover.
