We didn't have any problems with DME. We had to make a few stops at other resorts on the way in and the way out (I think we were 4th on the way in, and 1st of 4 on the way out, so plan on entertaining yourself on the bus.) The video was not working on either trip.
We checked in at the Fort, and they called a van to take us to our cabin. We were able to check in early (1-ish), and leave our carry-ons in the cabin. The van driver took dh over to the golf cart rental place. We left then and went to MK for a few hours, and our luggage arrived some time while we were gone (back at 6 from the park); so I am not sure exactly how long it took. (we landed at 11:30).
On departure day, our bus pick-up time was 12:50 for 4 p.m. flight. We went to the MK again for a couple of hours and left our bags in the cabin. They allowed us to have a late check-out of 12. They sent a van to pick us and our luggage up at noon. We were on Southwest, so we could not check our luggage at the Fort unfortunately. So we loaded it on the bus at 12:50 and went to 3 more resorts for pick-up. I believe if you could pre-check your luggage you could do so early that morning. We also had asked if we could leave things at the front desk, and they said that we could (before we asked for the late check-out).
I thought it was good service. Having your own car would make it a little more direct to the airport, so more time in the park on departure day; but I wouldn't rent one based on my two experiences with DME (went in Nov/06 as well and had a good experience then.)
