DME without enough DME Luggage Tags

We're headed to WDW this Thursday and figured out, too late, that we are short a DME luggage tag. Our TA advised that even though one of our bags will not have a DME luggage tag, we can check in at the DME counter and have them scan the luggage claim ticket for that bag and DME will still find and deliver that bag. I'm a bit skeptical but would prefer not to have to wait at the baggage carousel for one suitcase. Has anyone experienced this scenario? Did DME still find and deliver your untagged luggage?

I have done this twice when I did not receive the ME tags. Bags made it to my room both times.

People do that sucessfully all the time.
