So we have decided to give DME a try, since we have a party of 15, 3 kiddos and lots of luggage. Moving around all our overpacked luggage for such a large group is always a huge pain. We usually prefer to rent a car, this time we would have to rent 2 large vans to even accomodate all of us, not to mention our luggage, so we have decided to go back to using disney transportation and trying DME.

Our flight arrives at 8;30pm at night- we are staying at WL. since it can take up to 3 hours for our luggage delivery- does that mean they could be knocking on our door at WL at 11:30pm at night? Just curious what to expect, since it will be so late and we will have sleeping kids etc. We don't want to lug our own bags, so that isn't an option. We don't mind if it is late for the delivery, I just want to be prepared and expect a late knock on the door etc. or would/do they hold bags for next am?

When you get to the hotel and check in tell them to hold your bags until the morning. Just an FYI it is up to 3 hours after you arrive at your hotel not hte airport.

Yeah, what Tozzie said - so it's more likely your luggage would arrive at your room after midnight.

Tell the Front Desk you'd like your luggage held; call Bell Services from your room and let them know you'd like your luggage held (each room may need to do this); and insert the "Privacy Please" card in each room's outer door key slot.

Just remember to pack some of the carry ons as overnight bags.

It really isn't that big of a deal to pick up your luggage (or some of it) before getting ME. It really doesn't add that much time.....MCO has really good luggage service and usually the bags are on the carousel before we even get there from the gate.

I would probably have each family pack a bag and then not tag that for ME. That way you will have all your stuff for that night the next morning and not have to drag tons of carryons onto the plane. Pick those few bags up and head to ME. Then when you get to the resort let them know you won't need your bags til the next morning. Or, if you won't have much luggage I would just pick it all up. The luggage transfer is a really nice perk, but especially at night I like having all my luggage with me and get unpacked settled that first night (no matter how late) so that when I wake up I am officially on vacation!

thanks all- unfortunately one of the reasons we are using DME is to NOT have to get our own bags. We have 3 toddlers and one person with medical issues that needs a wheelchair- so that leaves less hands to lug bags. Last trip, we had a LOT of luggage for all of us. One of the advantages for us of using DME is not having to lug our own bags.

So we will just ask them to deliver in the am and will plan to pack an 'overnight' carry on for each family. Thanks for the tips all!! We are looking forward to just having a carry on for once to be responsible for. :wizard:
