DME when arriving late - but not taking DME until next morning

We originally planned to arrive mid-morning at MCO on the 21st and reported that flight info to DME. We found a better fare and will fly in late (11:30 pm) on the 20th. We have a cheap hotel room at the airport with the plan to use DME the next morning as originally scheduled.

My question is:

If we put our DME tags on the luggage and the bags arrive with us at 11:30, will they be transported to the resort the next day? DW thinks they will get stuck at the airport because DME doesn't transport between 11-5. I say that just means they won't transport, and that DME will still take possession, but won't deliver until the next day.

Who is right? We'll have a carry-ons with everything we'll need for a day and the parks. I think our bags will be waiting for us when we check in on the 21st.

If your plane lands after 10pm, you will have to retrieve them yourself. The wife is correct on this one.

After 10pm, all bags, regardless of having DME tags or not, are put out on the luggage carousel for passengers to claim. Any bags left unclaimed will presumably be collected by the airlines again. What happens after that is not definitive. However, Disney says if you arrive after 10pm, you must collect your own bags.

It is POSSIBLE (but there's not enough data points to make it any kind of certainty) DME will collect the bags from the airlines in the morning. However, if they DON'T pick up the bags, now what? You need to either make a trip back to the airport (on your own dime) or arrange for someone to deliver your luggage (again paying for that).

Also, what happens if your bag is misdirected by the airline? No one will know it's missing until 8 hours later, which is too late to file a claim.

Go with your wife.
