Just curious if it makes more sense to grab our luggage ourselves. Luggage drop off is typicaly 2-3 hrs after arrival, correct? We will be traveling with a 2 y/o and a late night luggage drop of may be a big disturbance. Advice appreciated.

I believe that after 10 PM, you have to get your bags yourself anyway. If it were me, I would NOT tag my bags in the case that the flight is running at all late. I wouldn't want to take the chance that my luggage stays at MCO overnight.

And yes, it can take a couple of hours for your luggage to get to your room. You can ask bell services to hold your luggage and not deliver it until the next morning. But again, if it were me, I'd feel more comfortable having all of my "stuff" before going to bed.

We used luggage service last time (9:30pm) landing and regretted it, bags were delivered after midnight, grabbing our bags this time around.

Up to you. Smartest solution any hour is to have the first 24 hours of supplies in carry on luggage. You never know when checked luggage will be misdirected. Then you can call Bell Services and have them hold your DME-delivered luggage until morning.

Yes, definitely, if the reason below applies.

and a late night luggage drop off may be a big disturbance.

Note that in order to grab your luggage at the carousels yourself for flights arriving before 10 PM you must not use the yellow baggage tags.

When going directly from your plane to Magical Express, whether you came in on "the A side" versus on "the B side" makes almost no difference. But walking from the A side carousels to DME averages considerably longer since you must return to the ticketing level (Level 3) and cross over amidships to the B side.

I tend to get my own luggage any time I arrive after 7pm, unless I'm planning on heading to a park that has late hours. If you land at 9:30, you should be at your resort by 10:30-11. That's when the clock starts ticking!!! So, theoretically, your bags could arrive at your door around 1:30AM!!! Not so good. So, I would do one of two things.
1. get the bags yourself and bring them to the DME bus with you. That way you'll be able to unpack, and get a good night's sleep.
2. tag your bags, letting dme take care of them. Then, when you get to your resort, tell the CM at checkin (even if you had online checkin and you got a room ready notice) that you want your bags held until the next morning. Then, stop off at Bell Services and tell them the same thing. When you get to your room, put out the 'privacy please' hanger on your door. When you wake, the message light should be blinking on the phone. Call Bell Services (or Luggage Assistance, depending on your resort) and tell them you are ready for luggage delivery.

I would never get my luggage if Disney was able to handle it. Why?????? Pack what you need for your first 24 hours in your carry on bags (always smart). Tell the front desk when your checked bags arrive to hold them. Put the Privacy Please tab in your door. When you want your bags call down and have them brought up to you. Easy. Why waste time getting your own bags and hauling them to the bus?

That's pretty much my thought as well. If, I'm heading out to a park that night. But, if I just want to grab a bite to eat, get settled and go to sleep? I get my bags. I want to start that first full day off getting to the parks quickly. No time to stay in the room, getting settled. BUT...that's just me.
