DME To Pick Up POR Guests @ DTD

Interesting. I'm curious why anyone would want to be picked up at DTD as opposed to their resort. It sounds like people have the option based on that article. Maybe they figure a lot of people kill time at DTD on their check out day? I'm sure it would help alleviate some of the traffic at the resorts too. Last time I took DME home, there was a large crowd gathered in the front for the bus and it was kind of nutty.

And I'm also curious if DME will have dedicated buses solely for DTD or if the bus that picks up people at the resort will then have to head over to DTD, or vice versa. I also have carry ons I wouldn't want to lug around DTD, and we usually opt not to do the luggage service and bring our bags with us when we leave. And then there's the people who's airlines aren't part of the luggage service. I want to find more info now!

Seems kind of strange to me. I guess if you want to be shopping before you leave it would make sense. But what would you do with your luggage that you plan to check? Would you have to haul it with you on the POR ferry or boat to DTD? I guess I don't really see the point unless they're just trying to alleviate some of the crowding at the resort??? :confused3

:wizard: We always go to DTD the day we leave to do some last minute shopping and have lunch. Being picked up at DTD would be great for us, but we always leave our carry-ons with bell services. So unless they have a way to pick up our bags before they pick us up I don't see how that would work. :confused3

Ditto for me. Breakfast at Olivia's, water taxi to Pleasure Island, shopping all the way to Marketplace, water taxi to Turf Club for lunch, and usually take the water taxi back. I would love to be picked up there.

Yes,unless the plan is to have the DME bus go by Port Orleans and pick up luggage/carry-ons and then go to DTD to pick up the Guests, the only Guests who would want to do this would be Guests who use Resort Airline Check-In for their luggage and who also don't have any carry-ons,which I would think would be very few Guests.:)

I think it's a great idea, for us. We often want to go to DTD for lunch and to pick up a couple of small last minute snacks from goofys. But it can be a challenge and takes too much time on our last day as the DTD busses can be so unpredictable

I didn't even consider what you'd do with you shopping bags from DTD if you don't see your luggage again. Someone post if they find more info on this!

This sounds good to me! We are using Magic Express and don't plan to have carry ons except for one small backpack. I was hoping to go to Downtown Disney on our last day but I was worried about getting back to POR in time to catch the bus. I hope they are doing this in September.
