We have used DME many times and I have only had a couple glitches. Since I see so many of the "DME is a nightmare threads" I thought I would report my most recent experience for those doing a search in the near future.
We did use the baggage delivery and packed necessities for the first day in our carryon.
SWA to MCO - 8:30 arrival and 20 minutes early ! Took our time, hit the restrooms and stopped for snacks and water. Checked in at DME about 8:45 and since all our info was in order skipped the desk and went directly to the bus line. Waited for about 5 minutes and boarded the bus for BC/YC along with POFQ and POR. Despite being the last of 3 stops and waiting for some luggage to be unloaded we were at the Beach Club by 10am. Checked in - changed into shorts and checked our carryons with bell services and were at the IG for EPCOT by 11am.
Our bags were waiting when we returned about 7pm and a quick call brought our carryons from bell services.
Outbound, US Air for a 6am flight ugghh.. DME pickup was 3:10 and the bus was right on time. Driver was friendly but not to much so which was appreciated at that time of the day. Bus made another stop at the Boardwalk and the passengers were a no -show. The driver signed a log and checked in with the hotel as well as waiting an extra few minutes just in case. Off we went to the aiport and had plenty of time to check in and clear security. I am always surprised at how long the security lines are at MCO and this was no different so even at this early time I think the 3 hour pick up is reasonable for a free ride !
