DME Question

I did a search, but I didn't see this question asked before, so here goes.

Do you have to be staying at a WDW resort on the night before you want to use DME? I am considering staying onsite for the first part of our trip, and then offsite for the last couple of nights. Obviously, I could use DME to get to the resort from the airport, but what about getting back?

You need to be a registered guest at a WDW resort the night before your departure home. So, the answer is, no, you cannot use DME for your return trip to the airport.

EXACTLY.

The requirements for using DME are being a registered guest at a Disney owned-and-operated resort, and traveling to and from MCO and your resort on your day of check-in and check-out.

So in other words, your trip from Hotel X to the airport is on you. But of course, you're right with the first part, you are entitled to your DME ride and automatic luggage delivery on your arrival leg.

Thanks! We've already reserved the rental car to be picked up/dropped off at the airport. I wondered if there would be a benefit in using DME and then picking up the car at an offsite location the next day (and save a day's rental). Picking up our rental at the Dolphin on the day after our arrival will actually save a fair bit of money ( enough to justify staying onsite the first day, anyway) so we may book one night onsite, take DME, and then pick up the rental the next afternoon and go to the offsite condo.
