Hello fellow DISers!

I booked our upcoming WDW vacation online and I do believe I opted for DME when I booked it. Well, tonight, we made our airline reservations and I went back to the Disney website to update with our airline information and I can't find a spot to update this anywhere! The only thing I can do (I think) is make a payment... Am I missing something here? Or do I need to call them?

Secondly -- our flight arrives in MCO at 10:28pm. We were planning on using the luggage transfer option (where Disney will bring our luggage to our resort/room) but my question is -- because we are arriving so late, when do you think we'll have our bags?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would call to make sure they get the info.

As for the bags, they could come at 130am..... so you have a couple of options. Stay up until the bags come or have bell services hold your luggage to be delivered in the morning. The third option would be to not use the yellow tags and pick up your own luggage before heading to the bus.

If you do use the tags, simply put your jammies in your carry on so you can go to bed when you get there...

Have fun!

Duds

Thanks so much - I'll give them a call.

Now, I guess we'll have to decide what to do as far as luggage. We'll have our (probably very sleepy) 17 month old DS with us... hmmm...

As you're aware, guests can use DME transportation without using the DME luggage service. Just don't use the yellow DME luggage routing tags. Then, you would deal with luggage at the airport and at the hotel (in addition to dealing with your 17-month-old). You could get help at the airport and at the hotel, but you would be responsible for paying tips to those who assist you, rather than letting Disney pays the tip for inbound luggage service. Also, it's likely you would be on a later motorcoach to your resort because of the time you would spend going to and from baggage claim and waiting there for your bags to emerge.

If I were arriving at 10:28 p.m. with a 17-month-old, here's what I would do:
  • Pack carry-on bags with anything you'll need overnight, as well as medications, valuables, and fragile items. (This is something you should do anyway because airlines sometimes misdirect or delay luggage.)
  • Pack everything else in baggage to be checked, and attach the yellow DME luggage routing tags. Also attach tags that say, "Please do not deliver until after 8:00 a.m." (or whatever time you you wish to specify).
  • When you arrive at the airport, go directly to the DME Welcome Center so that you can be on the very next DME motorcoach to your resort. When they ask how many bags you checked, also tell them you don't want the bags to be delivered until the next morning.
  • Your bags will be delivered the next morning. (You don't need to be in your room.)

With a 17-month-old, I would not want to spend time wondering through the airport and waiting for luggage, and I would not want to juggle enough luggage for the entire vacation while trying to keep a very tired child happy.

Horace - Thank you so much. That sounds like a great plan! (And, you're right - the last thing we want to do is have to deal with trying to carry around our luggage with a very tired (possibly cranky) 17 month old!)
