We will be arriving the day after Christmas, landing at 6:30 pm at MCO and staying at AOA. I am looking for opinions from folks who have traveled at this busy time about how long we should expect it to take to have our bags delivered to us if we utilize the yellow DME tags. TIA!

You could always pack what you need for that night and possibly the next morning in a carry on. As the pp said it's 3 hours from when you arrive. So the very earliest you would probably get to AOA is 730p and that is if everything goes right. Such as being the first ones off the plane, first to the airport monorail, quick at the DME line and the bus pulls away as you get there, you are the first stop the bus makes etc. So that puts you luggage at the resort at 1030p at the earliest going my their 3 hour time. Any delay to that and you get the idea.

We arrive at 730p tomorrow and plan on packing the over night stuff, especially for our 5yo DD. If we end up being beat tired and the luggage has not show by a certain time I'll call the desk and ask if they can hold it until the morning.

Thanks guys! I know it is supposed to be within 3 hours of check in but within the last 2 days people on the WL thread said it took more than 4 and 5 hours before it came...maybe they were super delayed in checking in :confused3. Someone on that thread said that at that time of year we should expect delays of that length so I wanted to ask here to see if folks agreed. I wouldn't worry so much but we are 1 night only at AOA and will be heading to WL early morning to check in so we can activate our tickets and DDP prior to heading to MK. :goodvibes:goodvibes

If your flight arrives, on-time, at 6:30, you should be at AoA around 8ish. Which gets your bags to you around 11-12ish. Could it be later? Possibly. I would pack what you need for the night and the next morning in your carry on bags. Then when you get to AoA, tell the luggage people to hold your bags until the next morning. Hang the privacy sign on your door. When you wake up, your phone message light should be blinking. Your bags are ready to be delivered. Call them and tell them you are moving to a new resort and will be there shortly to give them the info to transfer the bags.

I still wonder how many people take the 3 hours as from the time the plane landed and not arrived at the resort???

I think for Disney the 3 hours after check in is mostly semantics (is that the right word I am looking for?) anyway. 3 hours after check in sounds a heck of a lot better then 4 to 5 hours after you land. Even though it ends up being 4-5hours after you plane lands.

Last year when we stayed at WL, it took our luggage NINE HOURS to get to our room (7 hours after checkin), and we had a noontime flight arrival. MCO was packed that day and a madhouse. I'd never use the DME luggage service during Christmas, especially with a 6:30 arrival.

There's a better than even chance your luggage was misdirected or delayed by your airline which is why goofy4tink's advice about carry on packing is so important.

We have a direct flight so unless the folks in Manchester put the bags on the wrong plane our bags should make it to MCO ok! I guess we'll decide as we get closer...I'm leaning toward grabbing them ourselves but hate to lose one of the big perks of using DME!

I really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences and suggestions, thank you :thumbsup2

I'm so glad we can ask for our bags to be held overnight! Our flight arrives at 9pm, and we were debating whether we should try to just juggle our bags with the DD, stroller and carry ons we will have, or just wait up super late for our bags to arrive. Problem solved!

Has anyone had the bags held? I called and asked and was told they couldn't stop bags from being delivered by magical express. This didn't make sense to me so hoping we can hold them. Our plane doesn't land until 9:30 pm and we are changing rooms after one night. It would save a lot of hassle. The only thing I worry about is if they did get lost or something. We wouldn't know until late the next day.

I think stitchfan18 meant held by bell services at the resort not DME. We've decided to not put the yellow DME tags on our bags, collect them ourselves from baggage claim and just take them to the bus with us. That way we'll know if there is a missing bag and we won't have to wait for them to be delivered.

If you're referring to my situation...nope. We were on a direct flight and actually saw our bags go onto the plane. We were told that DME was "totally backed up" and that they were "really running behind."

So....can we let magical express get our bags but request through bell services they be held? I know last year the man from bell services that got our grocery order and took us to our room in a golf cart after check in was the same man who brought our suitcases to us a few hours later.

I would still have the stress of did the bags actually arrive though....
