Hey guys,,,

Just wanted to ask all you families that have used DME a question... I am a paranoid freak when it come to my luggage.... Is the tags for DME like the hard to remove stickers the airlines put on your luggage? Or is it a flimsy piece of paper that is attached by a rubber band like string? Just curious. We are wanting to use DME, but I am so afraid that our luggage wont get to the resort!! LOL... Can we use DME without tagging our luggage? I would feel a lot more at ease if we could get it and put it on the bus.. Same for return. I would like to take our luggage to the airport and run it through security... Do they allow this, or am I jumping off the deep end here? Is it a good service luggage wise?

TIA :goodvibes

We just got back from OKW a week and a half ago - we used DME coming and going and I have to tell you, IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!! Totally worth it.

The tags are the strudy sticky tags that they put on your luggage when you fly - I had no qualms about them. We arrived at 6:30ish and our bags were brought to our room by 10 PM, so I would definitely recommend bringing a carry on with a change of clothes/toiletries/maybe a swimsuit.

One the way home - there were only five airlines that they provided this service for - they checked us in. Our boarding passes were printed for us AT THE HOTEL and the tags that were on our bags were the exact same tags that would have put on at the airport. It was nice not having to even THINK about out luggage until we arrived back home in NY. When we got to the airport the only thing that we had to do was eat and shop some more...... ;) ;) ;)

I am 99% sure that they will let you collect your own luggage and bring it on the bus with you if that is what you should choose to do. Either way - have a MAGICAL trip.... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

For all intents and purposes yes! Just don't use the yellow tags.

The remaining 1% (actually much less) of the time there isn't enough space under the bus, the ME welcoming CM's have generally allowed those guests to be first aboard the next bus with their luggage, or to "gate check" their luggage for automatic magical delivery.

Rumor had it that back in May, forced "gate checking" of Disney bound luggage for ME happened a lot when it was crowded.

5 stars given to DME for bagagge handling.

Not their fault at all but we lost the same bag on arrival AND departure. The first time we did a gate check in of this one and the airline people removed the DME yellow tag so at MCO they didn't get it. We called that night and got it first thing next morning.

On our departure day, we couldn't do check in at the hotel because our final destination was international. With all the running and stress we had we forgot the same bag in the bus. Reported it at ME counter as soon as we realized it was missing, called from home that afternoon to check and they already had it. They sent it with the airline (american airlines) the very next day in the first available flight. Excellent service!!!!!

If your airline is one of the participating airlines I would strongly recommend to use the check in feature at the hotel. Otherwise, you don't have much time for check in at the airport, scan the bags through security etc. if you decide to do all by yourself, please let them know when you schedule your departure from the hotel so they can put you on an earlier bus.
