DME or Towncar?

You don't have to ride DME to have them deal with your bags for you.
We use DME for our luggage, but we rent a car for our bodies. Best of both worlds. Off the plane, pick up car and go. Sometimes straight to a park or dinner. Bags are brought to our room whenever but we don't have to wait for them, or a bus.
DME rules & FAQ state that DME is not a "luggage only" service. There is a risk to do what you have been doing.

If your luggage is misdirected (by either the airline or DME), DME will know you did not ride the bus. So they will not help you track down your missing luggage. By the time you discover something is wrong, it may be too late to file a claim with your airline.

Since most times, there is no problem with lost/misdirected luggage, this risk may be one you are willing to accept. If you've ever had a problem with misdirected luggage, you'd be more than willing to spend the few extra minutes on DME rather than deal with the hassle and much longer time resolving the issue. YMMV.

DD and family arrived yesterday on a flight that landed about 11 am. They took DME and by 12:45 were checked in, had eaten lunch and were sitting by the pool at PORS with a drink in hand and kids in the pool. We have used DME several times and never had any delays. The longest ride was to AKL because we stopped at a couple of the value resorts first. I say spend the money on something else rather than a town car ride.

OP, thanks for starting this thread. We were going to rent a car for our Christmas vacation. DD and her hubby are coming and thought a car would be nice. But, I checked the rates and they are 2-3 times the norm. :scared1: So, I just reserved a towncar.:santa:

This sounds like a nice option for a special time. :goodvibes How do you reserve a Town Car? Are there some TC services someone could recommend?
