Can you fly into MCO, stay at the Hyatt in the airport overnight to save a bit of $$, and still use DME to go to your Disney hotel the next morning? Obviously I wouldn't use the luggage tags coming in, would just pick the bags up myself and then self-load on DME the next morning. Couldn't find on the Disney website if this is allowed...

Yes. Every guest staying on Disney property is entitled to a RT on DME. The "arrival" needs to be on or after your Disney checkin day. The "departure" needs to be on or befpre your check out day. Ot does not matter how you are getting to/from MCO.

Yes, as a guest at the WDW resort, you are entitled to use DME each way. Just tell DME a flight number for time in the morning you want to use it. Take your luggage with you to the bus and you are on your way.

A friend of mine had a stay at WDW in February (Pop I think), then went to a conference at Universal for 2 or 3 days, came back to WDW with a friend for the day and was able to use DME back to the airport even though she had checked out 3 days before. They verified that she did not use DME on her actual checkout day.

That is very unusual!!! Disney and DME will both tell you that you have to have an active resort reservation in order to use DME...at either end. No, you do not have to use DME on your actual checkout day, but the reservation is supposed to be active. For instance, my dh and I are going to WDW in Sept. He is leaving on Sunday morning, via DME. I am leaving on Tuesday afternoon, the last day of the resort reservation. He is able to ride the bus since the reservation is still in effect!!!! But if I wanted to head over to visit my ds in Tampa and return to WDW on Thursday and take the DME bus back to MCO? I shouldn't be able to. At least not based on everything I have heard from Disney and DME.
