Have a bit of a weird situation, and wondering if anyone else has tried this.

Next month, friends and I are flying to WDW. Our reservation starts on a Saturday. Friend 1 is flying in late Friday night, Friend 2 is flying in Saturday early AM, I arrive Saturday afternoon. Friend 1 will stay near the airport, then come back to MCO on Saturday morning to take DME with Friend 2 to WDW. Friend 2 & I will both be checking our bags at our origination airports, yellow-tagged, to our resort.

My question is this. Friend 1 had just planned to grab her bags at the carousel, schlep them to airport hotel, schlep them onto DME and then to bell services on Saturday. But if Friend 1 yellow-tags her bags and checks them on Friday night... what happens? Does Disney grab them, scan them, and hold them until the next day? Or will they be lost into the ether of lost bags?

We are wondering if Friend 1 can get away with just having to schlep her carry-on around on Friday night/Saturday morning. My assumption is that she'll need to get her bag - and that's fine - but I thought I'd ask and see if anyone had done this in the past.

TIA!

if she's getting in after 10:00, her bags will go around and around on the carousel until they are either stolen or they are taken to the unclaimed luggage office. She will then have to go back to the airport and get them back, which could take a while.

If she arrives before 10:00, they'll be picked up by DME, but who knows where they'll end up.

To make a long story short, she needs to take her bags with her.

No really knows what exactly might happen to her bags if she just tags them. She might get them promptly. She might not. While it's an interesting thing to think about and even come up with ways to see (do this with a bag whose contents you don't care about perhaps), I wouldn't want to do the experiment with a good bag and with my actual clothing. She should just get her bag. :)

Orrrrrr. If either you or Friend 2 have extra baggage allowance (or if you're all paying for a bag, and one of you paying for 2 bags would be the same cost as two paying for one each), she could take the minimum in carryon and let one of you take her bag the next day. That way she's traveling super-light on Friday. (of course she would need some clothing in her carryon)
